Watercolor orchids

by Aimes

Hey!

It's Aimes here today and it's a bank holiday here in the UK so I'm enjoying this bonus day away from the office to share a card with you featuring the stunning Oriental Orchid stamp set paired with the Painted Greetings stamp set.

Aimes Orchid birthday

In order to achieve the watercolor effect, I coloured the stamps directly with Tombow USA brush markers, spritzed them with water and stamped them onto watercolor paper. I then blended the colours with a damp paintbrush to enhance the watercolour look. The background was created by scribbling a blue marker onto an acrylic block and picking up the colour with a wet paintbrush. Easy peasy!

When it came to adding a sentiment, it just had to be one from the Painted Greetings stamp set. The font of this set complements the watercolor style perfectly! I stamped it using Jet Black ink, I love how crisp this ink is; it's ideal for sentiments and detailed images.

I stretched the Tombow USA brush markers further and even painted the card front with a purple marker scribbled onto an acrylic block diluted with water to create a lilac/purple wash. :)

Don't forget that Altenew have joined forces with Tombow USA for a special collaboration blog hop! Be sure to hop along with us as there's still time to join in the fun and win a $30 Altenew or Tombow USA gift certificate!

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Happy stamping!

How did you do the green dots?

Hi Suzanne, the green dots are the small bud stamp from the same Oriental Orchid stamp set. I just coloured them with a green marker – super easy! Hope that helps! :)
