Hello, it’s Debby here. Today I have a video (see below) showing step by step how to heat emboss and watercolor the beautiful Vintage Teacup set. To get started I stamped the cup and saucer in clear embossing ink and gold heat embossed before die cutting with the matching dies. I also stamped the sweet flowers from the Vintage Teacup set on the cup and saucer in Blush ink.
I then took to my watercolors to give a gentle pastel pink gradient to the teacup with pretty flowers reminiscent of the ones my Mother and Grandmother used to have. After watercoloring I went in with colored pencils to define the details and add a few shadows.
I gold embossed the sentiment on a panel of watercolored card with softly torn edges. Then I added a light blue watercolored background with paint and gold splatters. I stamped the steam in Mocha ink on both the teacup and background. Next I added all the elements to the card with foam adhesive and on to a kraft card base. Finally I added a few sequins to accent.

Beautiful shabby card! This cup is so charming!
I fell in love with this teacup as soon as I saw the set!
Oh yes, Debby, so true! This little gem warms my heart, too!
=]
Thanks Michele :D
I love this card. I live in the United States and am wondering if I am able to order from ALTENEW in the U.S.
Such a beautiful card! LOVE the teacups and have them on my wish list! TFS!
Altenew is IN the US so you can definitely order from them! I am from the US and have placed orders with no issues! Happy shopping and stamping!
Thanks Evelyn and Barb! As Barb is saying Altenew are a US company so easy for you to order from :D
Beautiful card, Debby! I, too, have a teacup and saucer that belonged to my great grandmother who brought it here from England. Your lovely watercolor reminds me of it.
Oh an English teacup! Perfect :D
Gorgeous Debbie, your teacup also reminds me of all my grandma’s teacups which I now have and love dearly!
A precious reminder of your grandma :D
Stunning card. Love the coloring. These are such great stamps. I would love to have them.
Bunny I agree Altenew have such great sets :D
Wonderful work Debbie. I try to find vintage cups for my youngest daughter, who’s lineage includes many Irish folks. I have been able to find some lovely ones with shamrocks on them. She adores her cups. Thanks for sharing.
Oh what a wonderful gift for your daughter!
Gorgeous! I love the wayercoloring!
Thanks Celeste!
What a gorgeous card, with such a delicate and beautiful colored tea cup! Love it!
Thanks Tee, and I have to say you have the perfect name for this post :D
I DO love your work, Debby! You give me the inspiration to keep trying and trying and trying. Beautiful, stunning card!
I hope you are enjoying the journey Shirley. I certainly am :D
Hi Debby! love your tea cup colors. my mom had a beautiful set with colonial man or a women on it and my aunt had the one with lots of flowers on them. As I set here listening to you I remember my mom and aunt always arguing about how to serve the tea or coffee, cause one like the saucer and the other one didn’t wow how i miss them both. thank you
Isn’t it strange how the littlest things flood us with precious memories. Hugs to you.
Oh Debby, This is just stunning. I would still be scratching my head on how to use this awesome stamp set. I love the look and the sentiment. Beautiful soft coloring. This is just stunning.
Shhh, don’t tell the others, but I think this set is my favorite from the release! It’s great to have a set which is elegant and yet the image is large enough to hold its own.
So pretty, Debby – really exudes warmth, and reminds me of so many lovely vintage teacup sets I’ve seen (and own). Love the look of the torn edges too.
Thanks Susi!
Your teacup is darling. Looks real and your watercoloring is beautiful. I am ready for tea..
Pop the kettle on Dar ;)
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
I am new to card making but from what I have seen on the Internet, Altenew is the only stamps and dies I want to buy. Thank you for letting me see how beautiful and stunning the amount of professional art work and quality goes into every piece. X
Thank you Jayne for calling by and leaving some love! I hope you enjoy your card making journey. I look back to when I started and how much my life has changed because of this hobby!
Jayne – please do not limit yourself to one company. There are lots of others with great stamps, dies, stencils and products to make cards or scrapbooking pages from. Email me if you would like some names.
Kathleen
Well, this is simply lovely! The watercoloring is perfect!
Thanks Amy :D
My favorite new stamp. Your card is beautiful. Perfect coloring.
Thanks Gilda. It is a truly lovely set :D
I make bird feeders out of them
Oh Carly that is darling! Both my card making and photography mind jumped at the image that popped in to my head!
This is such a beautiful set and Debby, if anyone could make this look real, it is you. Just amazingly beautiful.
Aw, thanks Teresa :D
This is beautiful! It was my favorite set from the new release. Your card (which mine won’t look anything like if I get this set) shows why I loved it so much!
Mine too Angela! There’s so much I love about this set.
Your card is beautiful! I love the set. I collect tea cups, however they aren’t vintage. Someday when my grandkids get them they will be. Each cup is a reminder of trips we took.
Sounds like you are setting up the special memories for the future Jan!
This is lovely! My sisters and I inherited teacups/saucers from our grandmother who collected them and when I see it, it reminds me of her! Thanks so much for your pretty rendering – your watercoloring is just beautiful!
How lovely that you and your sister inherited your grandmother’s teacups. Such special memories :D
Debby what a beautifully water coloured card. Loving the tea cup and die so many possibilities…mmmm. My mum has some vintage tea cups and saucers from her grandmother, we are only allowed to admire them not use them lol. I do love tea cups and pots of tea and have a little pot for one of gorgeous tea every morning and sip it out of a lovely tea cup and saucer in my fave colour, orange, not vintage but a tea cup none the less. Have a tea-rrific day. Cheers Donna Z :)
Oh I love hearing about your tea routine! I have a varied collection of cups and mugs. I don’t go for sets but like an eclectic mix, buying one to remember a trip or receiving them as gifts from family. It always brings a smile to my face when I open my cupboard and flood with the memories and thoughts of loved ones.
Vintage Teacup is my favorite set of the new release. Debby’s video inspired me to add it to my wish list. Her watercolor creations are always stunning.
Oh Julie it is a lovely set isn’t it! I hope you’ve been good and maybe Santa will bring it to you for Christmas ;)
This is a lovely set from Altenew and I like them more and more. I am fortunate to have a tea set from my Grandmother. I have used it when my friends come over to make cards and though it seems very fragile, it’s stronger than it looks. I should get this stamp set and have it at the ready for the next time they come and of course, we’ll have tea!
Oh wouldn’t that be a fabulous crafty get together! Coloring teacups while drinking from teacups :D
I really like this set because it’s so unusual. I’ve been stamping for a lot of years and I can’t remember the last time I saw a tea set stamp and not one this pretty. I love the coloring on this and even though I don’t like tea at all, you make me want to get out a tea set and have some kind of beverage in it.
Do I have any vintage tea sets? I think I do. They are my grandmothers I think and she died in 1963. They are blue and I think they have dragons on them. They might be from occupied Japan which is why they have dragons on them. I’d have to look and check them out again. We also have some from American Airlines when my sister used to work there in the 80’s. That’s not vintage but it’s old, right? I’m not sure if they are tea cups or coffee cups but there are cups and saucers and they are very modern looking. Wish I could show you photos but if I had any, I’m not sure they would show up here. I’ll have to take a photo and send you one in an e-mail. I think you would like them. You guys are the best!
Gail I love hearing about your teacups! The Japanese cups sound really unusual and certainly cups from the 1980’s are getting older now. Gosh, hate to say that though LOL I was a teen and young adult in the 80’s and it seems like only yesterday!
Your card is lovely
Kathleen
Thanks Kathleen!
Love this teacup card! WOW
What a beautiful card, I love your watercoloring and the colored pencil details really highlight the pretty flowers.
I adore tea cups and collect many of the real thing but this is the most adorable stamp set and die I’ve seen of tea cups though I have to admit I have a few of them, wish I’d seen this one first. And the card with the torn paper behind is just wonderful. I don’t want to copy exactly but I may have to get close because I really, really like it…hehe!!
