Video: Spotlight Stamping Technique

by Lydia Evans

Hi there, everyone! It's Lydia here today and I wanted to share the latest from Lydia's Crafty Corner with you. This week I'm sharing a spotlight stamping technique.

I started by laying the globe and stand dies from the Big World Die Set into place on my card base. Then, using a pencil, I drew around them with a light pencil line. I then stamped some flowers and leaves from Heart Flowers Stamp Set into place using Limestone, Silver Stone, and Industrial Gray inks.

Once I was happy with my monochromatic floral arrangement, I then added a sheet of acetate over my card base to act as a mask. This way I can stamp over the other flower images on the card base and not make a mark on them! Then I cut out the globe from Big World Die Set using white cardstock and the stand from gold cardstock. I set aside the gold globe stand for later. Then I added the globe die cut into place over my acetate mask. Using Altenew glue tape, I adhered it down on the acetate sheet. I took the same images I used for the card base and stamped over them, this time using bold, bright colors. I used Pinkalicious, Ruby Red and Volcano Lake inks for the flowers and Parrot and Olive for the leaves.

Once I had finished stamping the flowers, I added a sentiment into place on the globe die cut. When all of the stamping was complete, I removed the acetate sheet mask. I also erased the pencil guideline on the card base. I then added the globe back into place, this time using foam tape, and added the gold globe stand die cut using glue tape.

Lydia, the spotlighting technique is always nice and showy on its own but I have to say the pop of gold with the globe stand really ramps it up. Simply beautiful.
