Video: Poinsettia Card with Gold Embossed Background

by May Sukyong Park

Happy Sunday! It's May here with a poinsettia card that I made using a traditional holiday color scheme: gold and red. Here is what I came up with:

Altenew_HolidayCard_May_1I created my own gold embossed background inspired by this wrapping paper from Paper Source.  This card reminds me of how much I love heat embossing technique. It adds so much interest to any projects.

DSC_0968I stamped the images from the Poinsettia & Pine stamp set with watermark ink, heat embossed with gold embossing powder, and colored the berries with Copic marker: R46.

DSC_0964After die cutting a rectangle panel using Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables out of Gold Mirror paper, I mounted it on the gold embossed piece using foam tape to give some dimension. Then I added gold embossed poinsettia for the focal point of my card.

DSC_0969Next, I gold embossed ‘celebrate' from Super Script stamp set on a piece of white cardstock, die cut with coordinating die, and mounted it below the poinsettia. ARVE Error: need id and provider

This is a video showing you how I created my card. You can watch the video tutorial here or in HD on YouTube. Unfortunately I spilled water on my finished card before I took a photo of it, so I had to make a new one. Hope you don't mind that the card in the video is slightly different with the one you see here on the blog.

How to make a HolidayCard_May_2That’s all I have today. Hopefully you loved my card and got some inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!

An absolutely stunning background for the lovely red poinsettia die cut. Love how it sits on a panel of gold to add a bit more bling!
