Video. One layer Thank You cards with Painted Poppy

by yana.smakula

Hello dear crafty friends! Yana is here with you today sharing a new video tutorial using gorgeous Altenew products. Grab a cup of coffee/tea and enjoy!

As I was reading comments to my last month video I noticed a request for a video using a Painted Poppy set. I happened to have it on hand and was happy to play around a bit, experiment and film my next video tutorial. I hope you will love it as much as I did. And if you'd like me to feature any other sets in particular in my future videos, please don't hesitate to let me know! Like any other woman I always struggle when it comes to making tough choices like picking out a stamp set for a next video, lol!

I started working on this card by stamping a bold sentiment in black. I chose a Thanks sentiment, but many other will work just as well. I stacked several additional smaller font sentiments and stamped those under the main Thanks. As soon as I had my central element ready I began working on the flowers.

We are all used to poppies being red, but we can make these any color we want. If you have a hard time visualizing those in a different color go to Pinterest and search for poppies. You'll be amazed! There are so many different colors and shades! Oh my!

I decided to stamp mine in peach, mint and warm grey. I used only one ink pad for each flower but due to double stamping technique I was able to achieve a small variation of color in the center. I went with gold embossing powder for the outlines and the flower centers. It turned out perfect and exactly as I had planned.

I’m sharing lots more tips and tricks on my video. You can watch it here or on Altenew Youtube channel.

Happy stamping!

Five star video, Yana! I just received my first ever Altenew stamps – Painted Butterflies and Vintage Roses – and wow, they’re absolutely gorgeous! I’m a ‘basic’ stamper (by that I mean very little water-colouring, or splatters, or fancy backgrounds…water-colours and I have a ‘touchy’ relationship *grin*). so your card here speaks to my style loud and clear! I’m still need plenty of butterfly/roses practice; your videos are certainly guiding me along! Thank you!! (Oh yes…and now I want the poppy set, too…)
