Video: Lydia’s Crafty Corner – Using Watercolors with Stencils

by Lydia Evans

Hello everyone! Lydia here! Today I'll be showing how you can combine stencils with watercolors to stretch your supplies.

DSC02018I started by taking the Mega Rose Stencil and spraying some re-positional spray on the back of it. Once the whole backside of the stencil was sticky, I added it onto a piece of watercolor cardstock and pressed it down firmly, you really want this to adhere quite firmly so watercolor doesn't creep under the stencil. When this was in place, I then used Warm Sunshine, Autumn Blaze, and Rubellite Watercolor Markers from Spring Garden Watercolor Brush Markers Set to add color through the stencil. Once I was happy with the effect, I left this to dry.

DSC02021Once dry, I removed the stencil. Make sure the piece is fully dry before removing the stencil. If the stencil does not want to budge, gently heat the backside – this will heat up the glue to make removing it easier. Caution! Be careful when heating as too much heat may damage your stencil.

DSC02022To finish the card, I added a stacked sentiment using the Mega Love die-cut from Jet Black Cardstock and an additional sentiment from Love You So Mush Stamp Set.

To see how this card came together please watch the video below or over on YouTube:

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!

What a beautiful result…please, what brand of repositionable spray adhesive did you use? It seems there can be variable drying times and eventual permanency with various brands.
