Hello, all and Happy New Year! I'm excited to start 2016 with a fun and simple video tutorial featuring Altenew inks.
I've been seeing a lot of galaxy backgrounds (mainly watercolor galaxy backgrounds) in cardmaking lately and the entire star and space theme seems to fascinate me a lot. So I decided to try to make a ink blended galaxy sky background using Altenew Inks, water and white pigment from my watercolor set. After a bit of practice, some trial and error I'm excited to share my tutorial with you today.
I started working on my background by picking out the ink colors – Warm Sunshine, Ocean Waves, Desert Night, Midnight Violet and Deep Iris. You can also add black to the mix to make your galaxy darker. I wanted mine to be somewhat light and vibrant, so I didn't use black.
You can also chose to skip some of the colors, like the lighter blue and the darker purple. The options are endless here, but you will need at least 3-4 colors to make a realistic looking galaxy background (yellow, blue, purple and possibly black).
After I blended the colors I added drops of ink and was happy to observe how Altenew inks reacted with water and created beautiful marks. I also added drops of white ink (from my watercolor set) and finally heat embossed a Wish Upon A Star sentiment from the Super Script 2 stamp set on top.
I'm sharing a video tutorial where I'm explaining the ink blending in detail and also sharing a few tips. Watch the video below or on Altenew Youtube Channel:
