Hello crafty friends! Svitlana is here today sharing two cards using stencils and colored embossing paste. I colored the embossing paste with Metallic Sprays. It's so easy to do and gives great results.
For my first card I used both Kaleidoscope A and B stencils. For the first layer I used Kaleidoscope A Stencil, which I taped down to a white panel. Using a palette knife I scooped some white embossing paste onto a craft sheet, added some Dusk Metallic Spray and mixed them together thoroughly until the paste got colored evenly. And then I spread it out all over the panel through the stencil. I removed the stencil and put the panel aside to let the paste layer dry.
After it did I taped down Kaleidoscope B Stencil, colored some paste using Ocean Waves Metallic Spray and spread it out over the panel through the stencil.
After this layer dried up I cut a square out of this background and foam mounted it onto a white card base.
For the sentiment initially I wanted to just stamp any. But then I thought it wouldn't match the panel. So I die-cut thank you sentiment out of white cardstock using dies from Majestic Bloom Die Set and coevered the die-cut with colored embossing paste as well. This way I kind of tied the sentiment and square panel together. Also it looks like velvet, which is fun I think (I need to store that idea for future uses).
As for my second card … Ok, to be honest – I didn't plan to make the second card at all :) But I had colored paste leftover and had to make a decision. Very quickly make a decision, as my paste was drying up. I didn't want to discard it. One option was to put it in a small jar to use later. I knew that this “later” would never come. Who knows when the next time I will need THAT amount of paste of THAT color? If I will remember at all that I have it somewhere there. Besides, at that point the paste had been air drying for some time and wasn't in its “original” condition. So I decided to create another background.
A piece of advice. If you are like me and almost never use “saved for later” stuff – have an idea on hand of how to use leftover if you get any.
When I work with colored paste I prefer to color it with some excess. I do it to be sure that one batch of colored paste will be enough for my project. As it's hard to mix another batch of exact color (unless you do exact recipe, like of teaspoon of paste, three drops of paste, which I never do. If I get small amount of leftover I just discard it. But if you were generous preparing colored batch – it's good to have an idea of how to use it right away.
So I grabbed that paste leftover and spread it out through Grid Stencil onto another white panel, applying the left top corner kind of diagonally to the bottom. When I was doing the second layer of the first card I also got some paste leftover which was applied here in a diagonal manner as well.
Then I made another batch, also using Ocean Waves Metallic Spray, but a lighter version (I was going for ombre look), and spread it out to the right panel edge completely covering with paste the rest of the panel.
For the sentiment I die-cut letters for hello word using dies from Inline Alpha Die Set. Which I adhered onto a vellum stripe, which in turn was wrapped around the panel and adhered to the back of it.
Finally I adhered the panel onto a white card base.
Have a wonderful day! I hope you like these two cards using stencils and colored embossing paste and give it a go yourself.

Thank you, Carol!
I heard people making their own paste. I prefer to use manufactured one. BTW, I’ve still going through my first jar bought a couple years ago.
Love them! The bright blues on the white are stunning – reminds me of the Mediterranean ….sigh, LOL!
Thank you, Janet!
Loving these types of cards!
Thank you!
Svitlana, I love what you did with the colored embossing paste. I truly enjoyed your comments about things “saved for later”. The second card is a good example of how to have a second idea in mind. Thanks for sharing the cards and the suggestion for not saving.
Thank you a lot, Helen!
