Three Quick Holiday Cards

by Svitlana Shayevich

Hello there!

Svitlana is here today, hope you're having a great weekend.

Holidays are definitely the busiest time of a year, and probably the busiest time cardmaking wise. I don't know about you, but each year I need a lot of holiday cards (much more then any other type of card). Not only because I give them to my friends and family. Also each year I participate in Caring Hearts card drive, so need to have lots of holiday cards on hands for that reason.

If you never heard about this card drive, I encourage you to check it out. The purpose of it is to collect holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes. It's such a great purpose, each year I'm signing cards to elderly people in tears. And there are also prizes (Altenew is one of many sponsors) you can win participating in this drive.

So, even though I like techniques and time-consuming complex cards, this busy time of year we don't always have enough time to spend like 4 days on one card :) And today I want to share three one layer, clean and simple card designs made using Festive Silhouettes stamp set. They're quick to make, easy to replicate and mass produce (in case you need some mass producing). If you have a MISTI, mass producing will be even faster. But you don't have to have MISTI to make this cards.

For the first card I stamped a reindeer head with antlers using Espresso ink. And the sentiment using Velvet. The whole sentiment was too big for this design and I masked the bottom part with a piece of washi tape when was applying ink. Lastly I added several stars using the same Velvet ink.

The second card is even simpler. I embossed a sentiment star onto a Kraft card base using red embossing powder and then added white droplets by sprinkling with white spray.

The third card is quite monochromatic. I stamped three trees using Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen ink onto a card base. Stamped a sentiment using Evergreen ink.  Added some ink droplets also of evergreen ink and tied a piece of green twine around the card folding.

Hope you like my ideas of quick holiday cards. These cards maybe look like something Hallmark or Paper Source would sell, not like something handmade, but I personally really like them. Not only because they're were simple to make. I love clean and simple cards, but myself am rare able to make a real CAS card. I tend to overthink things, add too many layers and got taken away by a technique.

Have a great rest of weeekend!S_svitiana

These are fantastic, Svitlana! I love the strong blocks of colour and clean lines. Great designs for getting through our Christmas card lists quickly, but still with stylish cards. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love your cards! I need to concentrate on CAS because I seem always to add more until I end up with a hot mess and tear the card apart and start over! Thank you for the inspirations.

I’m the same, Lonya! Adding more and more. It does take me some effort to stay within CAS.
Thank you!
