Hello!
Today we are celebrating the 10th “The Daily Marker 30-Day Coloring Challenge”!
Kathy Racoosin from the daily marker started this fun 30-day challenge back in March 2015 and now, three years later, we are already on the 10th challenge! What an amazing accomplishment!
You may have come here from Kathy's blog, if not you can always go back and check out the full list of the amazing people who are joining the hop today!
The goal of this challenge is to color something every day even if it is for a few minutes and share it with the crafting community. If you are new to this challenge, you can read more about it here.
I was very excited to create something for this blog hop; one, because Kathy is awesome and, two, because I rarely ever color and this was a great opportunity to do just that!
I made two cards using one stamp set for the images. I went for an older set, do you remember this one? It is the Floral Motifs Stamp Set. This set is filled with outline images so it was perfect for coloring:
I stamped everything in black, then colored in using Altenew Artist Markers. I used Coral Berry, Frosty Pink, Buttercream and Warm Sunshine for the flowers, and the lightest two grays for the leaves. The leaves look so flat! (Now you know why I don't color much!)
I added a sentiment from the set Scribbled Flowers and finished the card with a few yellow enamel dots.
For the second card, I did a bit of elaborate coloring (for me!). Before I show you the finished card, let me show you what I colored first:
After stamping the floral pattern, I kept the flowers mostly white and colored the background using Persian Blue marker. Boy, did that take a while to color! Originally, I had intended to cut a smaller panel and mount it on a card base, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut this up! I also didn't want to use it as is, so after some trial and error, I decided to cut a window out of a white card and mount the colored panel behind it.
In the end, I got the look I wanted in addition to the comforting thought that my laboriously colored panel is still there in the back and you can almost see it if you peek through the window.
That's it from me! Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you enjoy coloring, and if you do, what is your favorite coloring medium?
Your next stop on the hop is Concord & 9th.

Lovely cards, Tasnim! I can’t believe you never color! :) You’ll have to do it more often…
Wow, 2 beautiful cards but so different. I love the clean look of the first card and the colours are beautiful. The dramatic background of the second card is amazing and I bet it did take ages to colour x x
I absolutely love the blue card. It’s stunning.
I really like the blue background you colored Tasnim, it does take some time to do but looks so good!
The main coloring of the negative space on the second card is a great idea! The spare coloring of the flowers makes them really stand out. I think I will give that a try.
Wow! Beautiful cards! I really love the blue one! I really enjoy coloring with alcohol markers.
I love how you framed that second piece – you should color more I think you did great – the color combos on both cards are super pretty and it’s great to see an older set :)
Two beautiful cards. I like the simplicity of the first card and the bold-ness of the second.
These cards are so pretty! I love that they are so simple and elegant.
These are beautiful cards. I do love the blue one best and I like the window frame idea – it is elegant! My current favorite coloring medium is tombow brush markers but I would love to try the altenew artist markers!!
I’m just back in town and it’s time to get my Altenew stamps out and play along! Thank you for the inspiration and chance to win your fabulous marker sets!!
Love the cards and the coloring.
I love these cards! The white frame on top of the coloured image is such a good idea!
I definitely love colouring- my favourites are Copics and watercolouring.
I think both of your cards are lovely, the second one is my favorite! Thanks for the inspiration.
Usually use colored pencils or watercolors because you can take them anywhere and color.
I love the stamp set you used. I own it and love using it. Nice cards!
I’m glad you got to color because the results are fabulous. I especially love how the blue card looks like it is framed. Just gorgeous.
Love the card. I have to go try this. Thanks for the inspiration.
Favorite medium are markers for me.
The dark colored in backgrounds always look so stunning.
Love these cards! The first one is very pretty, but the second one is absolutely beautiful. the bold blue background is just fantastic.
Very nice cards !! I never colored a full background with markers , I need to try this thanks for the inspiration . And keep on coloring you rock !
I just love your cards. I thought the colored background would be a challenge and it is something I will give a try.
awesome card!!!! thanks for sharing!
Alcohol markers are my favorite. Thanks for sharing these beautiful examples of coloring.
I don’t color much but when I do, I use markers.
Beautiful cards you created with this stamp. I like the different ways you colored them. I like to color but sometimes my arthritis makes it hard. I usually use Copic markers.
Just absolutely beautiful cards!! Would love to win do I can play around and make sone of these!!!!
Love the way the raised white frame on the blue card just finishes off that card so beautifully!
The blue card is my favorite! You are so talented!
Gorgeous! I would LOVE to have the Altenew markers – they have such beautiful colors. I use a lot of watercolor pencils and some Comics
Lovely cards! Love how you colored just the blue background. I need to try this technique. I don’t think I would have covered that panel. It’s so pretty. I prefer watercolor but I’m learning how to use my Altenew markers.
Beautiful cards! I really like that you left some white in both, it’s just the right amount of color.
So beautiful! You are a natural!
Your cards are beautiful, especially the second one in the frame! Lovely!
Great coloring. I love the cards you had made. I like to use my markers but right now I am trying my hand with colored pencils. Slow process. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend.
So pretty!
That is so cool how your color choices make the stamp look so different! Art Deco look vs. a more traditional William Morris wallpaper kind of thing.
What gorgeous cards! I especially love the one with the blue background, I must try that technique one day. Thanks for the inspiration and for your generous giveaway!
Coloring stamped images has made card making so much more enjoyable for me. I love my Copics.
Two lovely cards, Tasmin. The blue card is a work of art :)
I adore your color combos. Just beautiful!
Really beautiful – love the rich colors!
These are lovely! I don’t know how you made yourself cover up so much of the blue one. The finished card is lovely, but I loved the larger piece!
These are beautiful cards! :)
Yes, I totally love the technique of coloring the background and leaving the image white or highlighted white. The color is just so stricking! Nice job on your coloring.
I love the simple beauty of these cards and how some of them look like french country wallpaper.
I like your coloring. My favorite medium is colored pencils. Sometimes I reach for markers, but love colored pencils.
You color beautifully! Thanks for going to all that work for us. I like to color with my Zig real brush markers
Both of these cards are beautiful, and I LOVE the frame around the blue background with mostly white flowers. I love to color especially flowers, most of which are Altenew sets with Zigs. I have the first set of Altenew alcohol markers and I need to play more with them. Thanks for your inspiration.
WOW!!! Three very stunning and beautiful cards!!
