Stretch Your Altenew Supplies!

by Virginia Lu

Hello Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. I hope today's post will prompt you to stretch your Altenew supplies and see them with fresh eyes! Basically I want you to take out your Altenew inks, stamps and dies… and play some mix-and-match!

I started out with the Layered Cityscape Cover Die B. The best thing about the Cover Dies is that you can use one plate individually or combine it with the companion set. I purposely left the tiny windows in the Cityscape intact and applied colors with the Altenew Inks.

Do you know that Altenew Inks can work like watercolors? I love how the colors can blend once you add a tiny drop of water. I simply swiped the inks onto a piece of acetate (you can use the ones from the packaging). With a paint brush, I can easily color the Cityscape image however I like. You can use Bristol paper or watercolor paper for this purpose. The inks I used are: Seashore Oval Set/ Mini Ink Cube, Warm & Cozy Oval Set/ Mini Ink Cube, Cool Summer Night Oval Set/ Mini Ink Cube, Shades of Purple Oval Set/ Mini Ink Cube, Green Fields Oval/ Mini Ink Cube and Red Cosmos Oval/Mini Ink Cube.

Once I finished adding watercolors, I set it aside and let it dry. To keep the image prominent, I trimmed off the top frame of the Layered Cityscape Cover Die B. I thought it would be neat to stamp some small tree branches. Floral Shadow Stamp Set seems like a good choice for this Spring in the city scene! I stamped the leaves with Tropical Forest Mini Ink Cube/ Oval Set. The sentiment from Extra Special compliments the Inline Alpha Die perfectly, don't you think?

There is definitely a lot of mixing in this card and yet the colors and size are perfectly matched.  I hope you are inspired to stretch your Altenew supplies and explore the possibilities. You will be amazed what you can come up with. Lastly, whether you live in the country or in the city, wish you “Happy Earth Day”!

Love this beautiful card. I, too, think it’s fun to create new looks by combining different stamp sets! As you say, more creativity from our “stash of stuff”! :)
