Stamp Focus: Delicate Clusters

by May Sukyong Park

Hello, Altenew friends!  It's Norine, back with you today with some cards to share with you, made using the Delicate Clusters Stamp and Die Bundle! This is a layering stamp set that creates a couple of elegant long-stemmed flowers, but as I will show you, can be used in other ways as well.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 1 1Let's break down the process starting with the red pair of cards.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 3I began by stamping the two floral sets in the stamp set with the Tea Party set of ink colors for the blooms and the Green Fields set of ink colors for the stems before die cutting them with the coordinating dies.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 8I used a stamp from the Versatile Vases Stamp Set to stamp the bowl vase on the bottom right of a card panel and cut a slit with a craft knife to be able to tuck the flower stems behind to avoid masking. Seeing as I wasn't actually stamping the stems onto the same paper as the vase.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 11Next, I used a sentiment from the Delicate Clusters Stamp Set, stamping with black ink. Because I'd used black ink for the bowl and the sentiment, I wanted to harmonize the stamped flower stems with the black accents, so I randomly outlined the flower centers with a permanent black pen. I added a few coordinating enamel dots to finish off this card.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 4I used more of the same stamped and die-cut flower clusters for the second card.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 5Here, I used the same Tea Party inks to ink blend on cardstock in an ombre fashion, from side to side. Then I cut the cardstock into varying width strips and re-assembled them into a striped panel, which I trimmed on either side and adhered to a card base. I then added matching green cardstock strips on either side.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 6Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Winter Cardinal Stamp Set, onto gray cardstock using embossing ink and white embossing powder.  Then I adhered everything into place and finished up with some matching gray enamel dots.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 13For the next two cards, I stamped with Lapis Lazuli ink colors for the flowers and with the Tropical Forest colors for the stems.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 18On the card above, I stamped the top portion of each of the blooms, masking off most of the stems. Then I die cut the “hugs” portion of the sentiment with the dies from Script Words Die Set and removed the word from the card panel. I stamped the “sending you” from the Dotted Blooms Stamp Set, using the darkest shade of the Lapis Lazuli inks.  Then I used some dimensional foam tape to mount the stamped card panel above the navy card base and added a few enamel dots to complete the card.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 14The last card looks like a straightforward card and mostly it is.

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 16Except for when it ceases to be a card and becomes a bookmark!

Altenew DelicateBloom DT1May19 17I used temporary adhesive so that the bookmark can be removed from the card front and the residual adhesive will rub off easily. For the card panel, I used the same Azurite ink to stamp the Pinstripe pattern as well as the bookmark sentiment from the Thoughts and Reminders Stamp Set. Finally, a doubled-up strand of hand-dyed silk ribbon for the bookmark and a few more enamel dots finished it.  I love that a thoughtful card can do double duty as a place marker in a book and maybe trying this design again very soon!

Once again, thank you for stopping by! Leave a comment if you have any questions and I'll be sure to respond! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Norine, these cards are so lovely. Viewing the many ways you have created your card designs with this stamp/die set, I can see that this will be a “must have” for my wish list. Your cards also give me some great design inspiration for some of my other Altenew stamps and dies. tfs

Norine these cards are beautiful. I love how you made clusters out of a
single stem. I also love the idea of a book mark. I haven’t done that for
a long time. Your cards and your work are a great inspiration.

All the cards are very pretty. They look somewhat intimidating to me, but I must say I can see some very clever ideas–like the cut paper, for one. I also love the way the book markers are layered together and the flowers run off the sides.

Awesome Norine. I love the way you made the red cards especially the one with the striped background and I thought that would be my favorite but then you came with a bookmark-card! What a great idea!
I love them all, you made them so awesome I can’t choose, thank you so much for your inspiration.
