Stamp Focus: Winter Cardinal + 25 Days of Christmas Tags

by Sveta Fotinia

Hello dear readers! Sveta Fotinia is with you today and I prepared a portion of inspiration and ideas for our new Winter Cardinal stamp set.

Winter Cardinal grande

This set is brilliant: layered bird is the next must-have after layered flowers in my collection now. You have probably already saw how I used them creating background in our November release blog hop and now I will show you few more ideas!

I'm addicted to arts from childhood and always loved to watch how my sister made her watercolor paintings. So my first desire was to get a watercolor look for my cardinal. I stamped first base layer with grey and the second one with the same ink to get a light line for coloring. Then I used Akashia Sai watercolor brushes and water to paint details of my bird. I made eyes with Glossy Accents and covered bottom with Winks of  Stella. Then I made my watercolor background and used beautiful sentiment from this set.

The second idea is to use unusual for winter cardinal bird colors and create something summer, tropical and shiny! At this moment in my mind appeared a thought that mixing basic colors is a perfect for our Crisp Inks! Mixing yellow and blue I will get green and mixing blue with red I will get purple! I stamped my layers using following colors of Crisp inks: Mango Smothie, Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Ruby Red. As for me now cardinal looks like a parrot, what do you think? :) For my background I used almost black&white colors with Wild Hibiscus stamp set . Sentiment is from Sketchy Cities America 2 stamp set.

One bird is good, but two is much better! Moreover if this two are in love! When I decided to browse through the web and check how do cardinals look like in a real life I discovered that classic red feathering is for boys and girls are kind of green and grey! I've used mirror stamping technique to create a couple for my gorgeous man) And she turned so pretty that HE proposed her!!!! Congrats to a lovely new couple!

Inks colors for him: grey, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Jet Black.

Inks colors for her: grey, Forest Glades, EvergreenJet Black.

Sentiment, ring and hearts are from Figure effects stamp set.

I can't stop use this stamp set and also will show you one more idea for a tag!

Altenew is taking a part in Tracey's McNeely 25 days of Christmas tag Marathon today and our designers created a bunch of  amazing tags that you should definitely check in Tracey's blog. Yay!

So here is my tag using Winter Cardinal stamp set without cardinal bird itself:

I blended a few of our Blue range Crisp Inks finishing with Jet Black to create a sky above, bunches with some berries and sentiments from Halftone Holidays stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed my ideas for Winter Cardinal stamp set and it will become one of your faves!

Have a great day!
