Stamp Focus: Oriental Orchid

by Svitlana Shayevich

Hi everyone!

Svitlana is here today focusing on the new Oriental Orchid stamps set.

Oriental Orchid

This stamps set is amazing and so versatile! I am showing different ways you can use it.

For the first card first I created background. Cut a panel from Robin's Egg cardstock and inked it completely using Dusk crisp ink. Next I slightly sprinkled it with pearlized spray. I did not sprinkle directly to the panel, but did it in the air and then quickly placed the panel in that cloud of droplets in the air. This way droplets that got on the panel were teeny-tiny and after ink reacted with their moisture – the panel got this velvety look.

Next I white emboss outline flowers on vellum (four of each). Along with four stems for which I used the solid stamp and Congratulations sentiment from the same stamps set.

After finishing embossing I fussy cut all images out and started assembling the card. My design of choice were orchids handing down on stems. I added a lot of flowers so these clusters look more dimensional and luxe.

Then I adhered the sentiment to the panel. For this card I did not want to emboss the sentiment directly on the panel as wanted to have it looking in the same manner as orchids. I like that some sentiments in this set are bold, so they can be embossed or stamped and then cut out to become a separate element.

Finally I added some sequins and adhered the panel to a card base made from Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.
I like elegant look of these orchids, especially embossed on vellum. I think this design can be used for wedding projects.

For the next card I first stamped the stem with leaves (using Evergreen and Forest Glades inks) and buds (Frosty Pink and Cotton Candy inks) on white cardstock and fussy cut it. Next stamped each orchid separately on white cardstock as well using Frosty PinkCotton Candy and Coral Berry inks and also cut them out. Stamped thank you sentiment from the same stamps set using Coral Berry, inked over with Frosty Pink and cut out. Adhered all cut images to Jet Black cardstock panel along with some sequins and finally adhered the panel to a Classic Crest Solar White сard base.

For the third card I first cut a panel from Pale Gray cardstock and added some ink droplets using Dusk ink. Then stamped and cut out a lot of orchids. For the lightest I used Sea GlassOcean Waves and Dusk inks, for medium – Ocean WavesDusk and Desert Night, and for the darkest – Dusk and Desert Night (stamping the third layer with Desert Night twice).

After all flowers were stamped and cut – adhered them to the panel in a shape of hanging down bouquet. Some orchids are adhered flat, some – dimentionally using adhesive foam squares.

Stamped I LOVE YOU sentiment using Desert Night ink on a white strip and added it to the top part of bouquet also using adhesive foam squares. And as usual – some sequins as finishing touches. Finally the panel was adhered to a card base.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my card and will get some inspiration of how you can use this amazing Oriental Orchid stamps set.

Oh my goodness I love vellum and Altenew flowers are so beautiful. Amazing designs, but I have to ask…….the first card with vellum looks more vintage creamy colour rather than white…is it perhaps the photography or have you used a vintagy look vellum or embossing powder? Whatever, it is so perfect x

Thank you a lot!
As for your question. There are so many shades of white out there. I used Zing! embossing powder from AC, and though it’s called “white” it’s more “creamy white”. The vellum is not so creamy in real life, but along with a lot of embossing powder around – looks so on photos. White is one the hardest to take photo of, and neighbor colors create reflection on it.
