Hello Altenew friends, Norine here back with you today, to share some projects made using the beautiful Grateful Heart Stamp, Die and Mask bundle that was just released yesterday!
I have three cards to show you, with three different ways of using the Grateful Heart Stamp Set. One card used the layering stamps in the set. In the other card, I stamped only the outline and watercolored the bloom. And in the third card, I made my own patterned paper with one of the images in the stamp set.
For all three of my cards today, I chose a blue color palette with the Glacier Caves inks.
Let's jump in!
First card
For my first card, I stamped each of the layers for the bloom in the stamp set onto white cardstock using the three lightest colors in the Glacier Caves ink color family, and the darkest of those three colors, Persian Blue, for the outline stamped image. I stamped the layers of the leaves with the three green shades in the Green Fields ink family and stamped the outline with Evergreen, the darkest of those three colors.
Next, I die cut each of the leaves and the bloom and set them aside while I created the background panel for the card.
How to create the background:
To create the background, I stamped onto another cardstock panel using the Dot Art stamp set and the two dotted leaf images in that set. I used Frayed Leaf to stamp over the whole of the leaf images and some Forest Glades ink stamped on the stem portion of the stamps. Then, I used Persian Blue ink to stamp a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set.
Next, I die cut the center of the background cardstock with a stitched die in my stash and removed it from its frame. I matted it with some coordinating cardstock and popped it up with foam tape on the back. Then I repositioned it back into the rest of the background card panel and adhered both the frame and the center portion onto a card base. Finally, I adhered the stamped and die-cut flower and leaves to the background card panel and this card is complete!
Second Card
For the second card, I again used Persian Blue ink to stamp the outline of the bloom, then quickly, before it had a chance to dry too much, I used a wet brush to go over the stamped lines and fill in the petals and dragged some of the colors out beyond the stamped lines.
I let that dry, then I used the bloom mask from the Grateful Heart mask and stencil set, to mask off the flower while I stamped the leaves. I stamped one leaf with Evergreen and Olive inks, inking the image in sections to combine both colors of ink. Next, I stamped one set of leaves and repeated the water brush step of going over the stamped lines, wetting the ink and filling in the leaves as well as pulling some pigment beyond the lines. I let the first leaf dry, positioned the mask for that leaf, and stamped it a second time, using the same colors of inks and the same method to blend the two colors.
Next, I smooshed the ink pads onto a paint palette and used my wet paintbrush to pick up color and add more paint to the leaves and petals. I added more of the green tones to the background behind the flower and didn't take much care to blend out colors, allowing them to dry patchy.
Finishing touches!
Finally, once the paint was all dry, I used more of the same ink colors with a very wet paintbrush, to add splatters to the card front. Then I stamped the card panel with a sentiment from the Fancy Greetings stamp set and embossed it with gold embossing powder. Finally, I adhered the painted card panel to a cardstock card base and added a coordinating strip of blue card stock to the bottom of the card.
Third Card
For my third card, I used the mini flower cluster image from the Grateful Heart stamp set and stamped it all over a blue cardstock card panel with Caribbean Sky ink from the Glacier Caves ink family.
Next, I used the darkest ink in the Glacier Caves set, Sapphire, to paint a piece of watercolor paper with four intensities of color. I was able to create four shades from the same ink pad by using more or less water with the ink on my brush. Once dry, I die cut the 4 layers of a flower in the Rose Flurries 3D die set and adhered them together. I repeated this technique with Forest Glades, Moss and Evergreen inks to create the leaves and their layers.
Then I stamped a small “Hello” sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set again, onto some coordinating blue cardstock to match the blue cardstock I used to mat the stamped card panel with and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I adhered the 3D rose and leaves to the sentiment strip, added that to the stamped card panel and glued everything to a card base. And completely uncharacteristically of my usual ways, I added no extra embellishments! You could, but I decided I would like the flowers themselves to take all the attention on these three cards.
Thank you for visiting the blog today and I hope you've found something to inspire your creativity!

These are all beautiful, but I do love your watercolored cards the best! You’re right these needed no further embellishment! :)
These are beautiful! I love the name of this stamp set “Grateful Heart”. I think of the contemporary Christian song every time that says ” Give thanks with a grateful heart. give thanks to the Holy One” I love the song and this z stamp set is lovely.
