Stamp Focus: Arabesque Medallion

by Lydia Evans

Hi there everyone! It's Lydia here with you today sharing with you a few ideas with the gorgeous new Arabesque Medallion Stamp Set from the July Release.

6x8 Arabesque Medallion 1

I have to say I'm loving this set! As there is so much you can do with it and it works for so many different styles.

DSC00858

For this first card I stamped the large focal image from Arabesque Medallion Stamp Set at the top of a piece of watercolour card and heat embossed it using Antique Gold Embossing powder.  I then created a galaxy watercolour sky over the image with gansai tambi paints. I love how this looks and that bits of the sky get ‘trapped' within the heat embossed image.

To finish I added a sentiment from the same stamp set and a strip of gold glitter washi tape from the New Day Card Kit.

My second card is simpler than the last but similar in technique.

I stamped and embossed in Antique Gold Embossing powder the large stamp from the set coming off the top of a piece of watercolour card. Then I used watercolour paints to colour the image. I did the colouring quite loosely and the embossing helped me keep within the lines.

I think this project has a kind of celtic look to it. Being Welsh I'm loving this effect!

So I have a confession. When I first got this stamp set I didn't realize that the small solid images that are on the set were supposed to go within the main image. These stamps are there so you can ‘colour' the image just by stamping…. I thought they were ‘extras', it just goes to show that you don't have to use images as they were intended…

DSC00866

So this is what I came up with using the ‘extras'. I stamped the frame image in Limestone Crisp Ink. And then stamped in the sentiment from the same stamp set.

Then I stamped in some flowers and leaves around the frame. I used Blush and Rouge Crisp Ink for the flowers and Frayed Leaf for the leaves.

I hope you like my takes on the new Arabesque Medallion Stamp Set. And I'll see you again soon.

Hugs, Lydia x

The Arabesque Medallion combined with your beautiful colouring has drawn me to explore the different designs that can be achieved. I usually go for flowers.

I am in love with this stamp! I love the deep sultry look of the first card. So romantic and beautiful. Then the second card felt like a walk in an English garden. So sweet. Then the third evoked a feeling that I would love to develop into a wedding / bridal / anniversary card. So many things to do with this stamp! Beautiful cards Lydia.
