Hello crafty friends!
Nathalie with you today with 2 fun spring cards from a single alcohol ink background.
The weather is finally changing here in Canada, and flowers are popping everywhere. I wanted to bring the airy and fresh feel of the season to the cards and the best way to do so is with an alcohol ink background.
I love Altenew alcohol inks – they are highly pigmented and create soft and ethereal backgrounds which are perfect for spring cards. Let me show you today's cards.
Fun Spring Cards
The fresh colors of the flowers and that soft background make these cards perfect for spring. I am following a simple design for the cards to keep them simple and colorful.
The base of my fun spring cards from a single alcohol ink background comes from a combination of Vanilla Cream Alcohol Ink, Parrot Alcohol Ink, and Shadow Creek Alcohol Ink. I split my 8.5×11″ background into pieces for my card backgrounds. Let's take a closer look at each card.
Spread Happiness Card
I am using the Nesting Ovals Die Set to cut a section of the background (from the part with the darker green shade), and white cardstock – to layer behind the background. The oval is attached to the center of an A2 card panel, and ready for the focal point.
I am using the Climber Flowers Die Set and Gradient Cardstock to create the florals for the card.
These are set at the top of the alcohol ink background. For my sentiments, I am using a clean and crisp sentiment from the Colorful Soul Stamp and Die bundle. A few Antique Gold Sequins complete the card.
You Color Me Happy Card
I am slightly switching the design of this card.
First, I cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel from the alcohol ink panel – from the lighter part of the background. Using the Nesting Ovals Die Set, I cut the larger oval from the center of the panel; then used the next die to cut a smaller oval from the center of the larger oval.
To build the card background, I first glued the alcohol ink panel to the card, then a smaller cardstock panel on top of it. Next, the larger oval was glued to the panel, then, using foam adhesive, the smaller oval was attached to the card.
This creates levels and dimension in the card.
For this card, I am using florals created with the Wispy Joy Stamp and Die Bundle.
This time, the florals sit at the bottom of the ovals. Another sentiment from the Colorful Soul Stamp set is used in the card; and the final touch are a few Satin Gold Sequins.
I love how these fun spring cards from a single alcohol ink background come together.
I cannot wait to see how you would use these ideas for your own cards! Remember to share with us your creations, we'd love to see how you use Altenew products in your projects.
XO
