September Challenge: From Places Abroad-Windsor Castle

by Tasnim

This month we are revisiting the UK for our inspiration.

As I mentioned last month, Altenew team was in the UK this past June. One of the places we visited was the Windsor Castle. We walked the grounds and took a tour of the State Apartments. It was quite grand!

From Places Abroad UK

The picture on the left shows intricate gold work on the ceiling of the Grand Reception Room. The picture on the top right shows a small part of the crimson wall from the Queen's Drawing Room. The picture on the bottom right is from the Grand Staircase (flipped horizontally).

I made a couple of cards based on the gold and crimson combination which is not only prominent in this collage, but could be seen in many of the rooms in the State Apartments.

Persian Motifs + Gold glitter

In this card I embossed the Persian Motifs in gold, then colored the inside with Copic markers (RV04, RV09). I covered the rest of the images with glue using a glue pen and sprinkled fine gold glitter on top. The sentiment is from Sentiments & Quotes which was stamped on a piece of white card stock and glued behind a gold frame (coming soon to our Antique Trim collection!).

Lacy Scrolls + Fenstone Antique gold

In my second card, I used Lacy Scrolls, and stamped using Distress ink Picked Raspberry. I stamped on watercolor paper, and blended the stamped images with a wet paint brush. To finish the card, I used the Fenstone decorative element and a sentiment using DYMO label maker. I also stamped on the edge of my card base to give the look of continuation.
