Hi, friends!
Svitlana is here. I'm a big fan of cover dies and I'm sure many of you are as well. Today, I want to show a way you can replicate the look of a cover die using die-cuts.
I started making my card by creating an ink blended background. First, I blended Starlight and Autumn Blaze Crisp Dye Inks onto a Classic Crest Solar White panel and then added splatters of clear water and Pure White Ink Spray.
For the cover die look replication, I used the Fine Bouquet Die. It's a very beautiful fine cover die that cuts a beautiful floral outline image. For this technique, I recommend using cover dies that have a lot of opening space. Although, depending on the design, any cover die can work really.
So I made several die-cuts using this cover die out of a cream cardstock and adhered them onto the panel. I tried placing them next to each other to imitate the look of the continuous design.
After that, I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base and popped up the sentiment strip onto the card. The strip was made by white heat-embossing stamps from the Birthday Builder Stamp Set onto a Jet Black Cardstock.
Lastly, I added several white crystals. I hope you were inspired to replicate a cover die design on your next handmade project!
Have a wonderful day!

Oh Svitlana!!! How wonderful – I’m heading to my Altenew stash and hope to find a die that will work… if not, I’ll be back to shop!!! xx

I’m glad you like this idea. Thank you!
Floral filigree. It’s lovely. And the white on black sentiment is a perfect finishing touch.
Thank you!
Love the card ! Your colors for the background are perfect , wish there was a video of you blending it.My blending skills are not seasoned yet.
I’m glad you like the card! My blending here wasn’t so perfect. But I added splatters and they always fix everything!
Don’t get the process of making it :( Wishing there was a video, but it’s a beautiful card.
Sorry that my description wasn’t very clear. I thought it was pretty easy. I made several die-cuts and adhered them one next to another to create a look of cover plate die cut. Hope this will help.
Oh what a clever idea! And such pretty results.
Thank you, Cindy!
Stunning card Svetlana, this idea stretch your dies even more. Thank you so much for sharing and have a great day.,

Thank you, Carol!
Great idea to get more out of dies! I like the look of the cream color die cuts on the darker background. Very pretty card!
Thank you, Linda!
Your card is lovely, Svitlana. Like this idea of a replicated die cut. tfs
Thank you, Helen!
This is one of my most favorite stand alone dies! Now I have more inspiration I can use with it. I can’t wait to try this technique. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you, Michelle!
I just recently got the mini blossom. I don’t have any other machines, so this idea is a fantastic idea to extend the die cut looks I can make. I will add the die used here to my wishlist and look through the few I have to see if I have any I can use to try this out.
Wonderful idea! It didn’t come to my mind that it can be also useful for only mini die-cut machine owners.
I love this idea. I am going to have to try it out!
I’m glad you like it!
