Hello Crafty Friends! It's Nathalie here with a new rainbow-inspired memory keeping idea. This time, we are featuring the new Essential Sentiments and Fresh Dye Ink collection colorfully and unexpectedly.
I love adding color (a rainbow, to be precise) to black and white in any project; it makes for a cohesive and impactful final product. This time, I am using the sentiment strips and inks to bring a fun idea to this 6×8 layout.
Memory keeping all starts with a background
What better way to create a rainbow-inspired memory-keeping layout than to set the foundation of the page in color? For this layout, a series of colorful paper strips are the building blocks for the page.
I started by creating the strips with the new Essential Sentiments Die from white cardstock. Then it was all about creating a bit of movement with the strips, think a loose zigzag formation as they go down the page.
I am blending a few of the new Fresh Dye Inks across the paper strips to create the rainbow. The key here is to ensure you have the paper strip formation set before you add your ink; that way, you can make a seamless color transition that reads like a rainbow.
Mix in a bit of black and white
I will transform my photos to black and white to ensure that the rainbow-inspired memory keeping is impactful. This helps to make each of the levels of the layout pop and work cohesively at the same time. In addition, I am using the Stitched Scalloped Circles Die set to cut and frame my photos. The contrast of the circles to the paper strips makes them pop from the background.
Add a bit of shine!
A pop of shine is always a great finishing touch to any project. I am bringing the shine in two ways for this rainbow-inspired memory-keeping layout. First, with a subtle pop of Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray splatters to the rainbow strips.
Then, a touch of texture and shine with the small Pond Flowers Die Set cuts from the Gilded Glitter Cardstock Set (Smoky Quartz) that surrounds the photos.
