Rainbow Bamboo Rose

by Lydia Evans

Hi there everyone! Lydia here with you today. I'll be sharing a bright and cherry card that will hopefully fend off those winter blues. I don't know about you but here in Wales the weather is damp and dull. So I'm totally ready for some sunshine. I love the stylised roses in Bamboo Rose Stamp Set so knew I wanted to use this to make a bright and bold card.

Bamboo Rose 1To start take a piece of watercolour card and stamp some roses using Bamboo Rose Stamp Set all over it. Stamp these using an embossing ink so they can be heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then cover the whole piece with clean water. Next take some ink or watercolours and dot in the colours you want to use. Try not to mix the colours too much as they the water you put down to start with should do most of the blending for you.

Bamboo Rose 2I truly love this rainbow watercolour effect! So bright and cheery and looks like you have taken so much time on it, when it didn't really take that much time at all.

Bamboo Rose 3As not to take any focus away from the background I finished this simply. To create the simple sentiment strip stamp a sentiment from Quilled Elegance Stamp Set onto a black strip of card. Use embossing ink to stamp this so it can then be heat set with white embossing powder. Then layer this onto some vellum before adding to the card. For a little more detail add a couple of black enamel dots.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you again soon!

Thanks for your card design, Lydia. You’re right–it’s perfect for a dreary day–but great for a sunny one, too. I visited Wales on a sunny day once. . .would love to return–even on a dreary day!

Love how the rainbow watercoloring provides a great backdrop to the bold sentiment strip. Layering it on a vellum strip adds extra – beautiful – interest!
