Quick & Easy Ink Blending | Terrific Tags with Michelle

by Michelle

Hello there, Michelle here with another edition of Terrific Tags with Michelle.

For my project today, I have been inspired to use the June 2023 Inspiration Challenge color palette. Isn't Deepa's photo beautiful? I love the color combination and thought quick and easy ink blending would work well for it.

June 2023 Inspiration Challenge

Inspiration Challenge Color Combination

I started off by die cutting the Craft-A-Flower: African Daisy Layering Die Set from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock. I placed them on top of the Stampwheel Sticky Mat to hold them in place while I added ink blending on top.

In Deepa's inspiration challenge photo, there are purple, pink, and white flowers, but I thought it would be fun to combine the colors into one flower for a two-tone look.

Quick & Easy Ink Blending

Using Mini Blending Brushes, I first blended on Pinkalicious Crisp Dye Ink to the outer edges of the petals. I then blended Deep Iris Crisp Dye Ink to the center. Using these two colors as a base, I blended on Rubellite Crisp Dye Ink next, followed by Midnight Violet Crisp Dye Ink.

Because I added so many layers of color, I didn't need to be too precise with how I blended. The inks did all the work for me! I love the vibrancy and saturation I was able to achieve with the layers.

For the leaves, I used Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks (Firefly, Grass Field, and Shadow Creek).

The flower layers were adhered together, using liquid glue, following the instructions on the packaging.

Creating the Tag

I die cut two tags using the Labels & Tags 2 Die Set from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock. The great thing about this set is that the holes are a separate die, so you can add them for tags, or don't for labels!

The tags are adhered back to back using Glue Tape. This is so that not only do I have somewhere neat and tidy to write a personal message on the back, but it also gives the tags added stability.

I adhered the leaves on top using more Glue Tape, followed by the flowers, adhering with Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

Finishing Touches

I added ink blending (using the same pinks that I used on the flowers) to a scrap of white cardstock and then die cut it using the ‘hello' word die in the Wild Geranium Die Set. I cut the shadow from white cardstock and adhered the letters on top. I then adhered the sentiment to the tag using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

I added twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow and to finish, added Essential Black & White Enamel Dots (just the white ones) to the center of the flowers.

Although not strictly part of the Inspiration Challenge color palette, there are white flowers in the photo, so I thought the enamel dots would work well for the flower center instead of adding another color.

I hope I have inspired you to try the June 2023 Inspiration Challenge! You can watch the full process video below or on YouTube.
