Hi friends,
Svitlana is here. The first thing I have to say today is Merry Christmas! May the light of Christmas give you peace and happiness. I hope you're having the greatest time with your families.
As much as I love Christmas and holiday cards, now it's time to slowly start making non-holiday ones. One of such I want to share today.
One card design which I like to revisit from time to time is floral elements onto a black and white striped background. There are many ways you can get a striped background, in the card I'm sharing here I made it with embossing paste.
I started off by cutting a panel out of Jet Black Cardstock and adding white stripes onto by applying white embossing paste through Watercolor Stripes Stencil. And I applied the pasted rather unevenly and rough to follow the uneven design of watercolor stripes.
Next I stamped and die-cut several flowers and leaves using Build-A-Flower: Carnation and Wild About You Stamp and Die Sets. I used different shades of pink and red for stamping.
After all the elements were ready I created two floral clusters and foam mounted them in the right bottom and left top corners of the panel. Trimming the excess with scissors.
I created a sentiment by die-cutting hugs word out of Solar White and Jet Black Cardstock using Script Words Die Set and adhering them together with a slight shift. To create a shadow affect. After that the sentiment was adhered onto the panel. Which in turn got adhered onto a white card base.
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

gorgeous card, Svitlana – and merry christmas!
Thank you, Betty!
Svitlana, I totally agree it is time now to leave the glitter and sparkle and to think of cards with different designs. I gather from your instructions that you created the stripes using embossing paste. I am yet to try this medium, I have purchased a few stencils I just need the paste and I am away. I would not normally like Carnation flowers but the flowers look amazing on the black and white striped background. :O)
Thank you a lot, Lorraine.
I hope you will have a lot of fun with the paste. I really love using it.

Wow! What a stunning card Svitlana! I am a big fan of black and white stripes on cards, but this is really something, I was thinking of getting the carnation build a flower stamp set , but now I know I am going to purchase it.
