Painting With White Pigment Ink

by Lydia Evans

Hi there everyone and happy Tuesday! It's Lydia here with you today on the Altenew blog.

Today I'm sharing a card using only two colours- white and kraft. I do love this colour combination as it can work for both male and female cards- it can be very soft or not depending on the look you are going for. I have chosen the soft option for this card…

To start, I stamped three of the sprig images from the Best Mom stamp set in white pigment ink onto a kraft card base. I then took a clean wet paint brush and ‘coloured' in some of the flowers and buds. As the pigment ink stays wet for quite a while it is easy to move the colour around without using much water. To add in more white shadow/colour, just add some of the white pigment ink to your craft mat and pick it up with your brush and then use as you would to watercolour.

Once I was happy with the amount of colour on my images I added a few splatters of a white pigment ink spray and then left this to dry.

While this was drying I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of kraft card using an embossing ink and then heat set it using white embossing powder. To make this piece stand out more from the kraft card base I matted the sentiment piece onto a piece of white card.

When the card base was dry I added some white ink blending around the card base to soften the look of the card.

I then added the sentiment using foam tape trapping some white cotton thread behind it. To finish I added a few white enamel dots to complete the look.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope I've inspire you today.

Hugs, Lydia x

Lydia this couldn’t be more beautiful! LOve the look… very soft and delicate! Do you favor one kraft paper over another?
