This outline stamp set features airy blossoms held on dark stems that appear to float in midair. Color in the stems and petals with your favorite coloring mediums to create vibrant paper crafted projects.

Dahlia Bright Eyes Project Inspiration

I have a pretty watercolor card with added pencil detail to share with you.

Paint-A-Flower Dahlia Bright EyesI started by heat embossing the Dahlia Bright Eyes onto one of the A2 loose sheets of Altenew's Watercolor Paper. I embossed it with the Copper Embossing Powder and Embossing Ink Pad. I did this at the top and bottom of the panel for a fuller look.  As you can see, I twisted the direction of the stamp to give the impression that the upper flowers are dangling down.

To color the flowers, I started by using the Artists' 24 Pan Watercolor Set, adding a soft lilac base to the flowers and beige to the steams. I then used the Woodless Coloring Pencils to add finer detail, taking inspiration from the embossed lines, this helps to know where to add darker color. I used just 2 pencils, the Midnight Violet and Paper Bag.

Paint-A-Flower Dahlia Bright EyesNext, I added some inky splatters using the watercolor I use on the flowers and some Pure White Ink Spray. The sentiment was heat embossed and then I added a wash of lilac watercolor. I fussy cut and the added it to a scrap of card which was embossed using the copper embossing powder. Lastly, I added a sprinkle of Satin White Sequins.

This Dahlia is so “happy” and the sentiments are great. Both would make a great addition to any card.

I’ve always loved Dahlias but could never grow them in Missouri. I will have to resort to painting them instead. I do live in Alabama now, so maybe I should try growing again.
