Old Meets New – 2

by jenniferrzasa

A few weeks ago I did an “Old Meets New” post here on the blog, and it was fun to mix up a set from our most recent release with one of our old favorites.  I think I might turn this into a regular feature- did you know that the name “Altenew” comes from “old” in German (“alt”) and “new?”  So this theme is just perfect for our company! :)

For my card, I used our new set, To the Moon along with our unique Shadow Play set:

I always get a little freaked out when I look outside and the moon is low and HUGE!  Look up pictures of “supermoon” online, and you'll see how large the moon can really appear, depending on the day/conditions!  The next supermoon will be at the end of August.

The background was created using Distress Inks, then I embossed one of the moon layers in white.  Make sure that the distressed panel is fully dry before embossing, or you will end up with powder stuck everywhere!  Next, I stamped out the bike and drew on a bunch of stars with a white gel pen.  Then, the shadow was stamped onto grey cardstock, and everything was adhered to a black card base.  To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock, and popped it up with foam tape.

We'd love to see what you create using some of our older sets!

Very lovely card–great sky coloring! I think the bicycle shadow is the perfect touch. I’ve wondered how the Altenew name came to be, and it’s fun to know “alt” means “old” in German :)

Love the card. My husband is half German so I realised from the words he has taught me that it was “Old and New”. Great combination just like your lovely card ☺

That sky is so gorgeous! Great match with the Shadow Play set.
Funny, I thought that “Altenew” was a composition of “alternative” and “new”. But “old” and “new”, now that you mentioned, also makes sense, both for this feature and also taking into account that Altenew stamps are a mix of vintage and timeless themed stamps, along with modern designs.
