November Guest Designer: Carissa Wiley

Badge Guest Designer

Hello everyone! Today we will introduce you to our November Guest Designer and it is none other than the amazing Carissa Wiley. Most of you already know her because of her fun, technique-laden cards. But if you don't, you are in for a treat! Her work ranges from clean and simple to lots of layers and intricate details, but you will always find it balanced no matter what.

Let's get to know Carissa in her own words!

Altenew Guest Designer Carissa WIleyI am a lover of all things paper crafting. I have been teaching and sharing both online and in person since 2009 and I have shared my handmade creations through online video tutorials, blogs, and publications. I love teaching and empowering others to create their own one of a kind paper crafting projects.

Along with sharing on my own blog and YouTube channel, I have also shared classes, projects, and videos on other sites and publications over the years. I've also taught several online classes for Altenew Academy, including my most recent, Let It Shine – Holiday Edition. I love to share with others. I want you to leave here knowing that you can totally do this too!  My “signature laugh”, featured in all of my online videos, shows exactly how much I enjoy what I do!

I have many passions outside of paper crafting. I am a wife and a mother of three, with a day job as a registered nurse in postpartum, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units. I live in a small town in the Central Valley of California, where I grew up. I love the small town life. I also love watching my children compete in water polo, cheer, and baseball. I would drive to the ends of the earth (and I often do) just to watch them do their thing.

Carissa's Christmas Card

Altenew Guest Post November Finals WM ALT 2Hello everyone! It’s Carissa Wiley here with you today and I’m so glad you’ve stopped by. I’m excited to be a guest designer here on the Altenew Card Blog.

Today, I’m sharing a Christmas card project today that features several Altenew products that were actually designed to be used year round. I’ve mixed in a couple of holiday stamp sets as well. However, I wanted to point out that a quick change in color theme, greenery and sentiment would make for a lovely thank you card as well.

Let's get started!

The Altenew Leafy Wreath Die is a beautiful die that can be used on cards year round. Today, I’m cutting several of these from shades of green cardstocks, vellum, and gold foil paper to layer together. Layering several of these gives this wreath a very full look.

Altenew Guest Post November Finals WM ALT 30I’ve also stamped and die cut some greenery from the Holiday Bow Stamp Set. I love the greenery in this set – I’ve used it behind my wreath to create a very festive holiday feel.

Here, I’ve also used the Pinstripe Stamp Set. Once again, this isn’t a holiday-themed product, but I love that I can make it feel more holiday-ish with my ink choice. Then I stamped the Pinstripe Stamp Set in Ruby Red ink on to plain white cardstock to create a background for my wreath.

Altenew Guest Post November Finals WM ALT 9It was a last minute decision to add a floral element to this card. I wanted another red element on my card, so I searched through my Altenew floral stamp sets to find the perfect image. The Climbing Clematis ended up being the perfect size for a floral accent on my wreath and that pop of rich red was exactly what this card needed

Altenew Guest Post November Finals WM ALT 22I’ll walk you through the creation of this card in the video tutorial.  Be sure to check that out below or watch it in HD on Altenew's YouTube Channel. I’ll have lots of tips and tricks for you.

I hope you enjoyed this card project. Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, I hope you have a fabulous day!

XOXO

~Carissa

Thanks! You just helped me decide my next Christmas card design. I have the wreath die and haven’t used it yet. Now is the time to use it to create my version of this gorgeous card.
