So if you are just starting out with memory keeping I suggest giving a modern and minimal layout a try. It's very easy to do. You still can use some flowers as decoration with some modern and clean lines for the background. To make the background stand out I did a little modern cutting. I'm still using Reflection Scrapbook Kit to create this red bold layout, I just love all the pieces in it.
I choose red and white watercolour-blocked paper and the black and white striped one from the collection and layered these together. I cut them both on the same angle so one is like a frame for the other layer. Once in place I added the photo into the white space of the layout.
As the red already so bold, I tried to decorate the photo simply, to create balance. I still love to use the wood buttons, flower die cuts a wood-veneer birds to embellish my layouts- they are just so fun and pretty. I added these around the photo to draw the eye into it.
Last but not least I used black alpha stickers as big tittle and pink mist, splatters it around as final touch.

What a great layout. I like the way you set the photo with the blocks of color. Fabulous!
