Hi there Altenew friends, it's Jaycee! I'm so excited to be hosting the Altenew Inspiration Challenge for May 2023. Notable May holidays include Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day. Hopefully, some of these occasions get you started on what to create for this month's challenge.

I took this photo at the Conservatory of Flowers in the Golden Gate Park located in San Francisco, California. In the very humid Potted Plants Gallery, there were so many Orchidaceae to adore. I found that this (what I presume to be) specimen, Cattleya maxima, stood out against the lush green foliage around me.
I perceived the following Altenew colors from the inspiration photo and used them to make my very simple floral arrangement.
- Parrot: Tropical Garden
- Marigold: Golden Sunset
- Purple Wine: Rose Petal
Mirror Stamping Florals
I started with the Build-A-Flower: Laelia Stamp Set. This stamp set has one Laelia bloom facing in one direction. In order to stamp the mirror outline to the single bloom, I used the mirror stamping technique with the Stampwheel. I used Limestone Crisp Dye Ink to stamp all the outline images and their mirror.
I solely used Altenew Artist Markers to color the outline images. I used the Rose Petal family from Rock Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set D and Tropical Forest from Tropical Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set E to color the petals and foliage, respectively. For the labellum accent, I used Tropical Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set E.
Since I partially stamped the images from Build-A-Flower: Laelia, I did not use the coordinating steel dies to cut the images out. Instead, I fussy-cut all the flowers and foliage with a fine blade. I added some of the supporting solid images behind the flower arrangement and stamped them in Golden Sunset Mini Ink Cube Set. With the same dye ink, I added some coordinating splatter and Jet Black Ink Spray splatter.
I finished this card with one of the coordinating sentiments stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink. I made sure to use some Instant Dimension Foam Tape to raise up the flower arrangement. I could not resist replicating the inspiration photo with stamps I have in my Altenew collection. With the mirror stamping technique, I am able to double the number of images in a stamp set and effortlessly color them for more variation in the flower arrangement.

Jaycee, your alcohol marker coloring of this outline stamp is outstanding! That Limestone stamping just disappeared, and your mirror stamping is perfection!
Can’t wait to play along – but will mirror stamping be required?
