Join us for our March Inspiration Challenge!

by Emily

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have the pleasure of hosting the March 2021 Inspiration Challenge! To start us off, I have a photo that I took of some bead strands that I purchased. (I like to make jewelry in my spare time – a pipe dream these days, haha!)

Inspiration Challenge 2021 03 SQ 1

I thought the colors were super springy and cheerful, and I've created a card to help inspire your own projects!

03022021 Bride To Be Simple Greetings

I wanted to create a graceful floral swag down the front of my card front (mimicking the flow of the bead strands in the inspiration photo) featuring pretty pink flowers with mint foliage on a bright, intense blue background-not quite navy, but not quite sky blue. I didn't have that color in my cardstock stash, so I decided to create a custom cardstock background! In order to create the vivid blue background, I put my Azurite ink pad directly to an A2 panel of white cardstock and allowed the ink to saturate the entire panel.

Next, I used Cherry Blossom inks with the Bride to Be stamps and dies, as well as some foliage using Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf, and Just Green inks to stamp my bouquet. I kept my bouquet simple, color-wise, sticking to bubblegum pinks and minty greens to mimic the inspiration photo. I arranged most of them in a large bouquet on my card front, leaving some foliage off to the side, then picked them up using Press'n'Seal and added foam adhesive on the back. I adhered the foam-backed bouquet to the Azurite card front, then filled in any blank spots with the remaining foliage using liquid adhesive for lots of dimension.

Finally, I die cut a bright white “hugs” from the Simple Greetings Die Set three times, adhering them together to create a dimensional die-cut greeting. I adhered the greeting to the floral card front, nestling the letters into an open area on the card front. The last touch was a few gems for some sparkle!

Well, that's all for me today. Thanks so much for reading, and have a marvelous day!
