Hi friends, Norine here with you again. It's time for another Inspiration Challenge and it's a particularly spring-y color scheme, perfect for Easter or garden themed cards!
I love succulent plants. Their wide variety of soothing colors, their interesting shapes, and especially their ability to resist my attempts to kill them. That's their best feature, truth be told.
As I got playing with these beautiful shades of lavender, blue and green, I couldn't get stopped and at one point had ALL of the elements on the cards above piled on ONE card! Just to see what looked good together! You can imagine the visual riot that was! So I decided two cards were necessary. Then I'd see which looked the best and go with that one. But I couldn't choose. And anyone who knows me well knows my motto in life is “anything worth doing is worth OVERdoing”, so here we go again!
FIRST CARD
For the first card, I stamped a simple wreath from the Weekend Doodles stamp set and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I painted the leaves with the new Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set in a color gradation from blue to green to lavender and back to blue again.
I also stamped a variety of sprigs with the Vase Fillers stamp set in Lime, Fresh Leaf, Hydrangea and Persian Blue crisp dye inks, then cut them out with the coordinating dies.
Then, I splattered a watercolor paper card panel with the same colors of paint that I used on the wreath and stamped a sentiment from the Dainty Swiss Dots stamp set and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Next, I trimmed all four sides and matted with a coordinating shade of blue cardstock and adhered all the layers of stamped and painted die-cut pieces, finishing up with a big bow of silver thread.
SECOND CARD
For my second card, I stamped a partial pattern on watercolor paper with the Pattern Play Diamond Stamp Set and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then I painted in the diamond shapes with the same paint colors as I used on the leaves of the wreath above.
Next, I stamped some flowers and leaf images from the Flower Garden Stamp Set and painted only the leaves in a haphazard, artsy fashion before cutting them out. I don't have the coordinating dies so I fussy cut the leaves and flowers.
Then, I added more paint splatters to the background card panel, stamped a sentiment from the Weekend Doodles Stamp Set with Obsidian Black ink, then trimmed the card panel to be matted with more of the same blue cardstock and adhered all the layers to a card base.
I hope you were also inspired with the photo and color combo as I was and I can't wait to see what you make!

Can someone kindly tell me how to save a card on this site to Pinterest that will pop back to this page to learn how to create? I can click on the picture to “share” it but it will not revert me back to this blog post. Thank you so much!
Try just copying and pasting the link and adding a new pin in the Pinterest app.
Thanks Nelya! I hope that worked for you Donna?
I was very inspired with your mask striping technique, applied it to my most recent challenge. I also plan to do it on my dahlia stencils soon.
