This new stencil subscription is pure magic as it helps you create beautiful and very detailed florals with just ink and your ink blending brushes.  It is just the perfect complement to the story of today's project.

@altenew_make your memory keeping layouts pop by Nathalie DeSousaI love how this page makes the story/picture and the florals pop nicely together. Let's take a  closer look at why this layout works.

Color is one of the best ways to make your memory keeping layouts pop. I chose to use the dominant color in the photo -blue- as the focal point for the page.

I created my Stencil Art Charming Delight die-cuts using Blue Mountains Fresh Dye Inks as it closely matched the colors in the photo, and complemented the blue shades with tones from the Forest Trails and Pocketful of Sunshine Fresh Dye Inks.

One of the keys for making memory layouts pop is negative space. For my project, I chose to stay with a white but detailed background.

The base of my layout is white cardstock, however, I used the Mega Stamp Frames Die Set to add interest and texture to the page. All the white space on the page becomes my negative space as it brings the photo to a focal point.

Combining different textures is an easy way to make memory keeping layouts pop! I used the Honeycomb Daisies Cover Die to create panels for my frames.  I cut the panels from white cardstock, so that they bring interest without taking the focal point from the florals.

In addition, I built my title using the Fine Alphabet Die Set and Blue Crystals Glitter Gradient Cardstock set; these letters add an extra pop of color, texture and shine!

One of the best ways to make your memory keeping layouts pop is to use a grid design for your page. The straight lines of the grid create the perfect placement for all your pieces.

Pro Tip! Create a visual triangle by placing your color pieces in the three vertices of the geometric shape.

I built my grid with the picture and frames on my page, then I placed my floral die-cuts so that they create an invisible “v” on the page.  This virtual triangle works as guide for the viewer as it creates a guide that runs through the entire page.
