Lydia’s Crafty Corner – Coloring Dry Embossed Images

Hello everyone and happy Friday! It's Lydia here. Today I'll be sharing a technique on how to use cover dies in a different way to achieve different looks.

Let's get started!

To start, I used the Antique Engravings Cover Die and I dry embossed this into two panels of white cardstock. I did this twice so I can show two different ways to add in the outlines. I colored the embossed parts of the images on both panels using Artist Markers. I used Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, and Ruby Red Markers for the flowers on one panel, Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, and Desert Night Markers for the flowers on the other panel, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen Markers for the leaves and stems on both panels and Buttercream and Warm Sunshine Markers for all of the flower centers. I didn't worry too much about going over the outlines as they will be covered up later.

Once all the coloring was done I was then set to add in the outlines. For the blue flower panel, I used a black fine line pen to trace the outlines; this gives a bold look. For the red flower panel, I cut the same cover die again from white cardstock (to change this up you can cut this from any color of cardstock, even gold mirror). I then adhered this over the dry embossed image.

To finish, I glued these panels to card bases and added sentiments using the Circled Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.
