Hey there Altenew friends, it's Jaycee. I'm so excited to reveal the June 2020 Inspiration Challenge photo and color scheme for my first ever Altenew Inspiration Challenge!
In this photo are two items: a brass singing bowl and a burning stick of palo santo. These are two items that have helped me restore balance in my home and crafting space. I felt the need to share this with you all and hopefully bring new energy.
ARVE Error: need id and provider
This color palette had me thinking of ways to incorporate masculine cards into your crafty stash. June is the month that contains Father's Day in the US. I figured this was a fitting time to share my creative formula for masculine cards and the inspiration behind them. Below is the latest installment of Perfect Pairings with Jaycee on the Altenew YouTube Channel!
PYROGRAPHY FLOWERS
For my first card, I mixed the new Build-a-Flower: Columbine with different textures of cardstock. I was inspired by the look of pyrographic art and the feeling of the Colorado landscape. The faded impression is an added bonus of stamping on Birch Wood Cardstock–the ink seeps into the grain of the wood veneer, diffusing the pigment to look vintage. I used Coffee Break family of crisp dye inks to achieve this beige flower.
Behind the flowers is another wood veneer background stained with Desert Night watercolor. I deepened this color with the Desert Night crisp dye ink pad directly onto the dry veneer. This blue wood circle served as my backdrop against the faded stain flowers. This entire arrangement is mounted on a panel of Woodgrain White Cardstock. I ink blended a mix of Mocha, Espresso, and Jet Black inks in a vignette formation.
GEOMETRIC FLOWERS
For my second card in this pairing, I used the Build-a-Flower: Columbine to make a curved arrangement. I stamped the layers using all the inks found in the Cool Summer Nights family of crisp dye inks. Like the first card, I omitted the base solid layer for both the sepals and petals for a high contrast look. As for the leaves, I used the off-cut of the blue birch wood veneer from the first card.
To finish this card, I made a background of triangles using the SOHCAHTOA stamp set. This stamp set is one of my well loved sets as I find it instantly elevates a card to a more graphic feel. I used the Coffee Break family of inks and arranged the triangles in a way that makes them point up or down. Again, I left a sentiment off this card so that most of the focus goes on the arrangement and colors.
Now it's your turn! I'm so excited to see what you all create with the June 2020 Inspiration Photo. Don't forget to come back to the Altenew Blog to reference this photo often! Giveaway details and sharing your cards can be found at the end of this post. Thank you so much for playing along and I'll see you in the next Perfect Pairing!
