Get to know Laurie!

Hi there! My name is Laurie Willison. I am from Kansas and I live with my husband and 2 kiddos. I am a part-time Registered Nurse and a part-time paper crafter. You can find me over on my blog at Soapbox Creations. I have been card-making and blogging now for 11 years. Clean and simple stamping is my passion. I love color but I also love white space on a card or project. Altenews stamps are definitely among my favorites because they work so well with a clean and simple card. I have been a fan since day 1 and am so excited to be a guest here today.

Laurie's “Hello” Card

I have 2 cards to share using a couple of my favorite Altenew stamp sets. The first one is Leaf Canopy. This set is absolutely gorgeous and makes for a quick and simple card. The next set that has quickly become a favorite is a sentiment set called Thinking of You. I love small and simple sentiments that can be added to a card easily. This set is full of sentiments in different fonts and that definitely sings to me when it comes to choosing a set.

IMG 8005 edited 1To create this first card, I stamped the Leaf Canopy images in Altenew's Frayed Leaf. I used my MISTI and restamped each leaf image twice to get a good solid image with a little darker color. Then I cut out the rectangle on the card panel and added the frame to a white card base. I took the center of the rectangle and added it to the card with fun foam for some dimension. Next, I used another favorite, Tall Alpha, to add this simple “hello”.

Laurie's “Thinking of You” Card

This next card was created with the Doodled Lace Cover Die. I used the die, negatives and all, and attached them to a card front.  This way you have the look of embossing with all the little pieces still intact.

LEWJanGuestI added some of the Painted Fantasy Washi Tape to a piece of coral cardstock and cut out a small banner. Next, I heat embossed the “thinking of you” sentiment on a similar banner. To finish off the card, I layered them on top of a strip of glitter washi tape.
LEWJanAltenewGuest2 1These projects are super simple and so easy to recreate! I hope you have enjoyed them and thanks for stopping by today!

Beautiful cards there, Laurie! Your work is like a breath of fresh air and we love it! Thank you for being our January Guest Designer.
