Altenew February 2022 Inspiration Challenge featuring a bright floral duo!

Are you ready for a new Inspiration Challenge? It's Jenny here, and I'm excited to be hosting this month! My inspiration photo features a bright floral duo that grew in my backyard a few years ago in New York.

I just loved it when they bloomed each year – so delicate but so bright! With spring just around the corner, I thought the florals and colors would brighten your day! I especially love that green color created by the bokeh in the background.

Bright Floral Duo

To create my card, I wanted to create a combination of colors that popped off the page, featuring pink, green, and bright yellow. I also loved those gorgeous flower centers, and it immediately made me think of the Sunflower Daisy Layering Stamp set. This is one of my faves – so three-dimensional!

Getting Inky

I stamped the daisy twice, using slightly different colors for each. The lower daisy uses Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Rubellite, and Razzleberry Crisp Dye Ink. The upper floral uses Baby Pink, Fuchsia, Magenta, and Razzleberry.

For the flower centers, I started with Lime on the solid layer, removing the edges. I then stamped over it in Honey Drizzle with the same solid layer. The upper layers are Sicilian Amber and Milk Chocolate.

Finally, for the layered leaves, I used Sweet Leaf, Just Green, and Hunter Green. On the solid smaller leaves, I just used Sweet Leaf, then without shifting the stamp in my MISTI, I restamped over the top in darker ink, then repeated, fading out each time to get a gradient look.

Dry Embossed Warm Sunshine

After die-cutting out all of my pieces, I set them aside to work on my background. I used a panel of Warm Sunshine cardstock trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and lightly ink blended along the base with Sicilian Amber Ink. This pop of yellow in the background works so well with the bright florals don't you think? And it mimics those flower centers in the original image.

I dry embossed the panel with the Enchanting Vines 3D Embossing Folder. I also added a few splatters in watered-down Jet Black Ink. I then arranged all of my flowers over the panel with Instant Dimension Foam Tape, doubling up in a couple of places.

Finishing Up

This stamp set also has the perfect sentiment, which I stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink and popped on top of the florals. I finished with a few pink crystals.
