Hello there, Michelle here with my series Terrific Tags with Michelle.
Today, I'm sharing how to add color with ink blending – two ways! I am adding ink blending to die-cuts and also to the background using two different ink blending tools.

Ink Blending Die-cuts
I started off my tag by die-cutting one of the Craft-A-Flower Garden Rose Layering Die Set flowers from Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Cardstock. To add color to the flower, I did some ink blending.
I started off by blending on Glacier Caves Crisp Dye Inks for the flower petals. For this, I started off with a Small Ink Blending Tool to add a light layer of Caribbean Sky. I then added a layer of Persian Blue. I didn't feel that I got enough depth of color, so I added another layer of Persian Blue, but this time, I used a Mini Blending Brush.
TOP TIP! The Mini Blending Brushes aren't just for small spaces! Because they have shorter bristles/hairs, the concentration of color they lay down is more intense. Perfect for adding more intensity and vibrancy to a project!

To finish off, the petals, I added a layer of Sapphire, to add even more depth of color before moving on to the leaves.
I used Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks for the leaves, as well as the Mini Blending Brushes. The flower center uses Fall Harvest Crisp Dye Inks. The flower was assembled and adhered together with 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen. These die-cuts are so easy to put together as you just line up the shape die cut in the middle of them!
TOP TIP! I added the layers of the flower on top of each other flat, but for even more dimension, add them with foam tape!
Add Ink Blending to the Background
For the tag, I die cut two Terrific Tags Dies from more Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Cardstock (one for the front and one for the back). With the one at the front, I added ink blending to it using a Small Ink Blending Tool and Golden Sunset Crisp Dye Inks.
For this, I just concentrated the color in the center and faded to white at the top and bottom. The Small Ink Blending Tool is perfect for this as it has long, soft bristles.

Assembling the Tag
I adhered the other tag to the back with Glue Tape and then adhered the leaves on top with more glue pen. The flower was adhered to the center with Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
I stamped the sentiment from Bold Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock with Obsidian Pigment Ink. It was adhered to the tag with more foam tape. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag and then embellished it with Essential Black & White Enamel Dots.
I hope this has inspired you to add color with ink blending. You can watch the full process video below, or on YouTube.
Thanks so much for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful day!
