Hi, it's Therese, and I am back with another edition of Take 2 with Therese. I'm sharing two cards made by ink swiping using the beautiful Fresh Dye Inks today!
I love to color, but not everyone is a fan… today's technique is so easy that anyone can do it!
It's Time to Try Ink Swiping!
This technique is just how it sounds. Simply choose your ink colors and swipe them across some white cardstock. I used some of the beautiful Fresh Dye Inks and love the vibrancy of their colors. I wanted to try a couple of different ideas to create some flowers with you today starting with:
Idea # 1 – Die-cut Flower!
I die-cut the Craft-A-Flower: Magnolia from some purple swiped ink cardstock. When I was die cutting, I made sure to choose some areas of white as well as some that were swiped with ink, this gave some variations to the bloom.
BONUS IDEA: You don't have to use ‘white' cardstock, how about ink swiping on some colored cardstock instead?
I kept the design modern and simple. I popped the flower up on a panel of Pale Gray Cardstock.
And added a sentiment from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Silk Art.
Idea # 2 – Heat Embossing!
My second idea is to stamp and heat emboss a flower on the ink swiped cardstock. I chose the largest flower from the Striking Flowers Stamp Set as it has nice bold lines.
I decided to add some ink splatters to the background, which was easy to do using the Fresh Dye Inks.
PRO TIP: When ink swiping, use two colors together to create a unique, shaded look!
Then I added a simple sentiment from the Fragile Foliage Stamp Set, but a die-cut sentiment would look amazing here too!

I love them both but I’m drawn more to the Craft a Flower. I’m a purple fan, but I just like all the dimension.
Thank you so much Karen
Both cards are beautiful, Therese! Ink swiping is new for me, so I’ll try this technique sometime!
It’s so easy to do, hope you have fun with it!
All of these cards are awesome. Ink swiping looks easy but with great results. Thank you.
Hope you get a chance to give it a try, thanks Peggy!
Therese – both cards are gorgeous! The layered card is my favorite…. it motivates me to get out my layered flower dies, which I haven’t used for a while. I love the texture, the colors, & the ‘watercolor-y’ style!
Hope you have fun creating Cheri!
I am wondering if there is a setting for viewing your emails. The images are always too large to view in a normal size window.
Thanks,
Monica M.
Hi Monica, is it just my posts or all of the blog posts here? As this blog belongs to Altenew I am not able to control the size of the images. I would suggest reaching out to Altenew separately. Thanks so much, Therese
