Ever have one of those cards or layouts that ends up looking nothing like you planned in your head? Yep. This is one of those. I had seen Eunyoung's most recent layout with the Bamboo Rose Stamp Set and wanted to give water coloring them a go too. That's pretty much where the similarities end.
As always I started with my Solar White Cardstock. Oh man, do I love that cardstock. And that sat on my desk for a couple of days. Finally though, daylight savings started and Eva began to go down an hour early. This amazing transformation meant I had time to scrap of an evening. I leisurely went though my stacks of pattern paper looking for gems I had long forgotten and boy did I find them. None of the papers in this layout are younger than 3 years old and 3 of them are Basic Grey – which we all know went the way of the dodo bird.
The problem with having a number of pattern papers from so many companies is that often they are hard to tie together. I achieved this balance my shading in my roses with watercolors matched to the colors in my papers. Then, I scattered them though out the layout, creating my very own botanical garden.
I guess, what I like most about the Bamboo Roses, is that it helps bring a feline touch to a color palette that is very masculine. A small, but important fact when your baby happens to be a little girl.
I think throughout her life, Eva is destined to have many flower layouts, not just because I have the honour of working for Altenew, but because she in part named after a little flower. I told you once before, Eva's middle name was picked in memory of my Nana. There is however more to the story. My Nana was born to an Irish Catholic family in an era where you were named after saints. Thusly her parents named her Therese, after St Therese of Lisieux or perhaps better known as “The Little Flower”. It's a fascinating story if you ever get a chance to read about it. My nana used to tell it to me all the time and I suspect I will indeed tell it to Eva one day too.
That pretty much wraps things up on my end. I hope you enjoyed yet another glimpse into my album. I'll see you again in a couple of weeks for a really fun layout.
