Geometric Stamping and Watercolor

by yana.smakula

Hello, friends! This is Yana and today I'm mixing up solid image stamping with watercoloring to create a Clean & Simple card.

Those of you who enjoy this style would probably agree, there's noting simple in CAS cardmaking. While this card looks like it is very simple to make, it still took me nearly an hour (if not more) to come up with this design and execute it properly.

If you would like to re-create this project begin by heat embossing an elephant outline image from the Ori Kami stamp set using Platinum embossing powder onto watercolor cardstock. Select several colors you'd like to use and fill in the heat embossed section of the image with water first and then with watercolor pigment.

I used yellow and pink (just like I shared here) and by mixing the two I also created orange-red color. Use matching dies to die cut the image out and set it aside for now.

Create an A2 top folding card base using White cardstock and begin working on a background by stamping a large triangle from the Simple Shapes stamp set repeatedly using Warm Sunshine, Cotton Candy and Morning Frost.

Be sure to heat emboss a greeting on the background using the same Platinum embossing powder and foam mount watercolor elephant on top. Use several sequins and clear drops to embellish this card.

I rarely mix solid image stamping with watercolor and I prefer to stick with either one or the other, but it was fun combining the triangle stamp with origami elephant on this project for a geometric look.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have fun stamping!

Thanks for this CAS card. I agree that there is nothing easy or simple about designing a CAS card. I follow your work and just love all your designs.

You said it best, Yana….the cleaner and simpler the card really does require extra thinking time as well as color time. You’ve made an excellent card.

That looks really great with that colorful elephant over the triangles! Great choice of colors on all of the elements.
