Stamp Focus: Stained Glass Window Stamp Set

by May Sukyong Park

Altenew Stained Glass Window 2Hello, Altenew friends and welcome! Today I am sharing some cards that focus on the Stained Glass Window Stamp Set. I am obsessed with this stamp set and the multiple ways it can be used! In each case, I let the stamped and colored image be the focal point of the card, but I treated each one slightly differently. Let's dive in!

Altenew Stained Glass Window 6The first card is a simple but stunning collaboration between the stamped image, Artist Markers and the Essential Black and White 6×6 Paper Pack. I stamped and colored the image on a white cardstock card base, then used the coordinating die to cut a window from an A2-sized piece of black and white paper from the paper pack.

Next, I cropped the black and white card panel by 1/8″ on all four sides and popped it up with dimensional foam tape. The sentiment is from the Stained Glass Window Stamp Set and is stamped on black cardstock, heat embossed with white embossing powder, and matted with another strip of white cardstock to help it stand out. Then I added a few red enamel dots to finish.

Altenew Stained Glass Window 3Next up is a shaker card made using the Stained Glass Window Stamp and Die Bundle. As with the card above, I stamped on a white card base, but this time I “colored” it with the coordinating solid stamps. Next, I stamped and embossed on heat resistant acetate and mounted the two images on top of each other using foam tape to create the space in between and filling the gap with microbeads.

Afterward, I die cut the window from a white cardstock card panel and dry embossed it for a sweet complementary addition. I stamped another sentiment from the stamp set, white embossed it on black cardstock and adhered the sentiment strip on top of the circle's opening. Finally, I added one of the sweet acetate butterflies from the December 2018 Scrapbook Embellishment Kit.

Altenew Stained Glass window 8The next two cards include vellum windows. The first one is stamped, embossed, and colored with Artist Markers and showcased on the card front with the inside left blank for a written sentiment.

Altenew Stained Glass Window 9Both the front of the card base and the patterned paper card panel have the circle window die cut from them. To make sure the windows aligned perfectly, I cut each and layered them as they would ultimately be, then ran them through the die cutting machine together. I colored the front of the vellum layer with Artist Markers and sandwiched the vellum piece between the card base and patterned paper card panel. Another stamped sentiment from the stamp set and more enamel dots finish this simple card. I love the way the light glows through the vellum window in true stained glass fashion!

Altenew Stained Glass Window 12

Altenew Stained Glass Window 14The last card is done similarly to the card above, with the vellum sandwiched between the card base and patterned paper card panel, but this time I've left the vellum uncolored. Instead, I stamped the same image on the inside of the card and when closed, the colored image inside shines through to the front of the card.

Altenew Stained Glass Window 13I used the solid and the patterned image stamps to color the image inside this card, and I created the pink circle frame on the front of the card by combining the circle die from the Stained Glass Window Stamp and Die Bundle, with another circle die from the Halftone Circles Nesting Die Set. I die cut and layered 3 “sweet” die-cuts in black cardstock and combined that with a stamped, white heat-embossed sentiment from the stamp set, and finally finished up with a few more enamel dots.

Altenew Stained Glass Window 15This is such a joyful little stamp set that I'll be reaching for again and again! I hope I've provided you with fun ideas for ways to use it! Thank you for stopping by today!
