July 2022 Inspiration Challenge | Folk-Inspired Hello Card

Hello everyone! It's Aga here and I’m happy to host the July 2022 Inspiration Challenge with a folk-inspired hello card!

It’s finally summer, my favorite time of the year. For my family, summertime means traveling together, visiting family and friends, discovering new places, and having fun.

For this month’s inspiration, I’ve selected a picture that was taken during one of the trips a few years ago when we visited Kashubian Ethnographic Park, an open-air museum displaying the typical rural architecture of Kashubia.

Kashubia is a region of northern Poland where my family comes from and the Kashubian people are an ethnic group with a strong cultural identity. Around the pictured window you can spot a beautiful traditional floral print, which is an important part of Kashubian culture.

Inspired by this folk art design, I immediately knew what stamp set to use. Here's what I came up with:

Folk-Inspired Hello Card

I started my hello card by creating a background inspired by the blue window.

I used Grid Stencil and applied Misty Morning Crisp Dye Ink with a small ink blending tool. Next, I stamped floral designs from Folk Art Stamp Set with Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink onto white cardstock and used a coordinating die to die-cut the image.

I used the following Altenew Artist Alcohol Markers to color the design: Forest Glades, Desert Night and Dusk from Cosmic Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set A, Maple Yellow and Honey Drizzle from Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set F, and Vanilla Cream and Dew Drops from Water Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set G.

To finish everything off, I popped up my sentiment with foam tape for an extra dimension.
