Today we are focusing on the Whimsical Flowers set.
This set was inspired by a number of elements from nature:
Trumpet Creepers – took this picture during a morning run
Cotton Plants – image source
Amoeba – image source
Design ideas:
Each image in this set has a solid and an outline part. They can be used together or separately, giving more options for designs.
In the following two cards, only the solid images were used:
For this card, the three large solid flowers were stamped on a 4″ x 5.5″ white card base to create a background pattern. The centers of the flowers were colored with a Copic marker. A piece of vellum, patterned paper, creame card stock, and silver glitter paper were then layered on top of the card base. The sentiment is from our ‘Many Thanks‘ set.
Once again, the solid images were used to stamp a floral ensemble on a 4″ x 5.5″ white card base. Two shades of pink and purple were used to get a gradient look. The centers were filled in with a Versamark pen and then embossed with gold embossing powder. The sentiment, from ‘halftone Hello‘ was also embossed in gold.
In the following two cards, only the outline images were used along with two different coloring techniques:
The three large outline flowers were embossed in white on water color paper, then colored with three shades of yellow Peerless water colors. The leaves were stamped with two shades of green ink. A diagonal pattern was created on a white card base using the chisel nip of a W3 Copic marker. The sentiment is from our Faux Veneer set, and a strip of black card stock was used to ground the design.
Here the outline flowers were first embossed in gold on white card stock, then sprayed generously with Heidi Swapp Coral Color Shine. Once dry, the flowers were trimmed and arranged around the ‘hello' sentiment. The sentiment (Halftone Hello) was also embossed in gold and trimmer using a pair of micro-tip scissors and a craft knife. To finish the card, a few drops of gold glitter were added in a random pattern, and to the center of the flowers.
And finally, a traditional use of the stamp set using both the outline and solid images:
Before this card was stamped, all the floral images and leaves were first stamped on masking paper and trimmed. As you can see, this is a one-layer card, and a lot of masking was done to achieve this look. Three drops of silver glitter and a few strips of white card stock were adhered to add an interesting element to the card. The sentiment is from our Scribbled Flowers set.
I hope these examples will inspire you to get creative with your stamps. Don't forget to add your projects to out flickr gallery.
Have a great holiday!
