Hello there everyone! Happy Friday! Lydia here. Today, I'll be sharing two super fun cards with gouache backgrounds, that could also be used as wall art.
How to Create Easy and Fun Gouache Painted Backgrounds
I started with 2 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panels of watercolor cardstock. I used Satin Masking Tape to mask off 1/2″ from each edge, so it would leave a beautiful white border once removed.
I then mixed Prussian Blue and a little Misty Teal Gouache from the Strolling Through New York Gouache Set and painted the whole of the background, then left it to dry. I then mixed a little Pistachio Green, Lagoon Green, and a little Prussian Blue Gouache and used this for the branches and the first set of leaves on each panel. Then, I also left these to dry.
For the lemons, I used Primary Yellow Gouache and added a little shading using a mix of Primary Yellow and a tiny bit of Misty Teal. The oranges were painted using a mix of Primary Yellow and a little Ruby Red Gouache.
Once the fruit images had dried, I added some more leaves to both of the panels, before leaving them to dry one last time. When they were completely dry, I added doodled details using Gold Must-Have Gel Pen. Then, the masking tape was removed.
The sentiments are from Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set, but you could leave these off and then use these as DIY wall art!
