Creating a Bold Background

I started making my card as usual by creating a bold background.

I decided to go with a very impactful teal and plum color combo and used two darker inks from the Dried Petals Fresh Dye Ink Bundle to create the background.@altenew_ Easy Floral Design with Teal Shadow Washi Tape

First, I inked up a Solar White Cardstock panel with the Berrylicious Fresh Dye Ink. Next, I added 3D texture to it by embossing with the Enchanting Vines 3D Embossing Folder.

After that, I inked up the middle of the panel with the Cloud White Pigment Ink to highlight its design. Followed by inking up its edges with the Acai Berry Fresh Dye Ink for a more dramatic and finished look.

I finished work on the background by adding black splatters to it.

Elevating the Design with Washi Tape

Wide washi tapes are one of my favorite supplies when it comes to quickly creating an element of a card. That said, I also should admit that I often overlook using them.@altenew_ Easy Floral Design with Teal Shadow Washi Tape For this card, I used the Teal Shadow Washi Tape to create an easy floral design forming the focal point cluster on my card.

I adhered pieces of the washi tape onto a Solar White Cardstock (80lb) and then hand-cut them using the Fine Blade Scissors.

Of course, I know not everyone is fond of fussy cutting, but personally, I find this part of the process rather therapeutic.

After I cut out enough elements for my focal point, I adhered them to the background, forming a cluster in the top left part of it.

Next, I popped up a sentiment label, which was made using the One-Go Birthday Stamp & Die Bundle. The background panel was foam-mounted onto a white card base using the Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

Several black and white crystals finished off the card as embellishments.

And there you have it – a bold card featuring an easy floral design with washi tape! I hope you liked my card design, and I hope it inspires you to create easy florals for your next project!

I find fussy cutting relaxing as well. Coloring with markers/pencils/etc. also are therapeutic. I do everything fast, but not these things!😉

Wow! I love the background you created, and I’ve never thought of adhering washi tape to card stock and fussy cutting the designs! What a genius idea! Thanks for the inspiration!
