Hello there, Michelle Short here with my series Terrific Tags with Michelle.
Today, I have a quick and easy tag to share with you using Alcohol Markers on Yupo for a fun colorful background. I am also creating an eclipse look with Mega Numbers Dies, which is a fun way to personalize projects to the recipient! Although I am making a DIY tag today, this technique and design would work perfectly on a handmade card too!

Alcohol Marker Background
For the background of the tag, I started off by taking a sheet of Yupo. This is a synthetic paper that works perfectly with alcohol inks and markers.
I took different shades of Artist Alcohol Markers and, using the brush tip, swiped the ink across the Yupo. I wasn't too concerned if the lines were straight, but I did try not to make them too wonky!
I started at the top with Coral Bliss (Red Cosmos Set), followed by Coral Berry (Island Garden Set), Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle, Citrus Burst, Firefly, Grass Field (all from Sunshine Valley Garden Set), Dew Drops (Water Garden Set), Ocean Waves (Cool Summer Night Set), Iceberg, Ultramarine (Island Garden Set), Ultraviolet (Water Garden Set), and then finished up with Deep Iris (Shades of Purple Set).
The great thing with Alcohol Markers is that they dry almost instantly on Yupo, so I could go ahead and die cut the panel with a Terrific Tags Die straight away.

Personalizing with Numbers
Next, I wanted to personalize the tag with the recipient's age, so I took the Mega Number 8 Die and die cut it from the tag. I also die cut it another five times from Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
I also die cut another tag from Solar White too. The Alcohol Marker tag was adhered to the white tag with Glue Tape and then the numbers were adhered together (stacked one on top of another) using 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen.
I adhered the inside pieces of the letters first and then the stacked number die-cuts, followed by the Alcohol Marker piece to complete the eclipse look. I think it's really cool how the number 8 pops up from the background!

Sentiment and Finishing Touches
I took the sentiment from Mini Delight: Birthday Banner and stamped it onto black cardstock with Embossing Ink. I then applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set it. It was cut into a strip and added to the tag with Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
Next, I die cut the stars from the Sentiment Banners Cover Plate using the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Cardstock Set and adhered them to the tag. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag and tied it in a bow.
I hope this has inspired you to try using Alcohol Markers on Yupo. I applied the lines (somewhat) straight but you could do them in a diagonal too. It's a really fun alcohol marker technique that I hope you will give a try!
You can watch the full process video below, or on YouTube. Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day!
