Dreamy Daylilies
Did you know daylilies come in an almost unlimited array of spectacular colors and bi-colors? The Dreamy Daylilies 3D Embossing Folder showcases an arrangement of two gorgeously blooming daylilies. Bring these beautiful blooms to life with their coordinating simple coloring stencil set and die!
Today, I am sharing three ways to add interest to the daylilies in a clean and simple way.

1. Add Interest with Embossing
I started off by die cutting a Terrific Tag Die from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock. I placed it inside of the Dreamy Daylilies 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my die cutting machine.
Even without adding any color to the flowers, it already looks so beautiful with the embossing! The folder adds so much texture to the image.

2. Add 2 Shades of Color
I placed the tag on to the Low-Tack Sticky Mat to hold it in place while I add ink blending on top. I placed the first stencil from Dreamy Daylilies Simple Coloring Stencil Set on top and allowed the Sticky Mat to keep it in place.
Using a Mini Blending Brush, I added purple ink (Shades of Purple Crisp Dye Ink Collection) around the outer edges of the petals. I blended Deep Iris on first and then deepened the color with Midnight Violet, just on the very outer edges.
Using a Detailed Blending Brush, I added yellow to the centers with Sunray and Chamomile inks, from the Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Ink Collection. I used the detailed brush to really focus the color to the centers of the flowers, so that it did not blend with the purple and get a muddy color.

For the leaves, I used Green Valley Crisp Dye Ink Collection – Firefly, Grass Field and Shadow Creek.
3. Add Detail with Dual Tip Pens
I think the flowers look pretty as is, but I wanted to add some more interest to them, so I took the Chamomile Dual Tip Pen (Tahitian Terrace set) and added dots to the centers of the Dreamy Daylilies flowers. Whilst this is pretty subtle as it is tone-on-tone, I really think it adds a lot of interest to the flowers.
I die cut another tag from white cardstock and adhered it to the back of the inked one using Glue Tape. This ensures that the back of the tag is clean and gives me somewhere to write a personal message.

I stamped a sentiment from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set on to white cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink and cut it into a strip.
Since you can see the white core of the cardstock around the edges, I went around it using a Fine Liner Pen (brush tip) to paint the edges and neaten it up. It was adhered to the tag using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow.
Aren't the Dreamy Daylilies just gorgeous? I absolutely love them! I hope I have inspired you to try adding interest to florals in a clean and simple way. You can watch the full process video below or over on YouTube.
