Crisp Inks As Watercolours; Featuring Lotus Stamp Set

by Erum Tasneem

Hello! Erum here and I will be sharing a relatively CAS card featuring the Lotus Stamp Set. Moreover, today we will be watercolouring with Altenew Crisp Inks.

To begin, I cut Woodgrain White Paper to 4×5.5 inches. Please note, my base size is 4.5×6 inches, slightly larger than an A2 card. Then I used masking tape to mask the borders. At this point, I decided that I wanted a 3.25×4.25 inches of inked area where I would place my flowers. This would leave ample space for a sentiment as well.

I inked the panel using Persian Blue Crisp Ink with the help of a blending tool. After I was done, I removed the masks and stamped the sentiment from Smile More Stamp Set.

I heat embossed my flowers and stem outlines onto watercolour paper with Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder. Then I used a mix of Maple Yellow and Honey Drizzle to colour my flowers. For depth, I also added a bit of Caramel Toffee Crisp Ink. In case you don't know, to use these inks as watercolours, you will have to squish the inkpad onto glossy surface (like acetate on a piece of white paper). You can either dilute the ink or pick up the colour with wet brush.

For the stems I used Parrot Crisp Ink.

I fussy cut the images and popped the flowers on foam tape after the colour was dry. I glued down the stems directly onto my card front.

To add a bit of interest, I added white paint splatters and clear water splatter onto my blue inked panel. The Lotus Stamp Set is beautiful and looks quite dainty when embossed in white.

Lastly, I added a few iridescent sequins. I also used shimmer brush pen on my florals. I have a Boomerang video on my Instagram showing all the sparkle!

That is all from my side today. I wish all of you, who celebrate, a very Happy Christmas! See you soon!

The color of the lotus painting and the light and smooth lines made me deeply feel the lotus on the stamp. In a word, it’s no less than the lotus pond.
