Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams Stamp & Die Set

Introducing Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams – 2 layering butterflies, 4 sentiments, and a stunning 3-layered bird cage & branch die set. Craft enchanting paper crafting projects with this set or combine them with other products in your crafting stash for unlimited possibilities!

Butterfly Dreams 2 for 1 Project: DIY Tag Ornament

Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams 2 for 1

I started off by creating the tag. I took the bird cage die from the Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams Stamp & Die Set and die cut it once from Wisteria cardstock (in the New Purple Gradient Cardstock Set) and then a further three times from the same cardstock but with Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet on the back.

I removed the backing paper from the adhesive sheet on the back of the bird cages and layered them up one on top of another to create dimension (with the one without the adhesive at the bottom). I then added the detail layer on top.

I took a Mini Blending Brush and added ink blending to the bird cage with Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks (Hydrangea, Ultraviolet and Andromeda).

TOP TIP: I cut the bird cage from purple cardstock so that the edges of the bird cage, as well as the back, would be a light purple shade, rather than white with possibly some ink blending on. If you wanted to cut it from white cardstock, you could easily add ink blending on the back to finish it off.

I took one of the butterflies from the Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams Stamp & Die Set and stamped it onto Vellum Translucent Paper using Embossing Ink. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. I then fussy cut the butterfly out using scissors.

I took the sentiment from the Mini Delight: Birthday Banner Stamp & Die Set and stamped it onto black cardstock using Embossing Ink. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was then cut into a strip.

I added Silky Lilac Metallic Thread through the top of the tag/bird cage and tied in a bow. I then adhered the sentiment using a little liquid glue. I added two Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles to the the butterfly's body. This not only added some sparkle, but also gave me a place to add adhesive so that I could adhere it to the bird cage without the adhesive showing through to the front.

I thought this bird cage looked so sweet as a standalone tag/ornament! Whilst you cannot write a personal message on the back, this would look lovely added to a gift, or simply used as decorative ornament!

Since I thought this would be a lovely keepsake to give to someone, I also thought it would be nice to add it to a card but so that the recipient can easily remove it.

I took a panel of white cardstock and added ink blending to it using Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks. I started off with a base layer of Wisteria, using a Large Blending Brush, I then added the next three darker colors using a Small Blending Brush. I focussed these colors around the outside edges, so that when the bird cage is added on top, it has a lovely bright halo around it.

I took the panel to my splat box and combined Titanium White Artists' Gouache with a little water. I picked it up with a brush and splattered it onto the panel. The panel was then set aside to dry before being adhered to an A2 sized white card base with Glue Tape.

To adhere the tag ornament to the card, I simply took the thread and folded it over the top of the card, securing at the back with a little Satin Making Tape. When I write the message inside the card, I will tell the recipient that they can remove the tag ornament from the card and it will be easy for them to do.

Love the idea of a removeable tag and this one is so sweet. I do wish there were dies for the butterflies as I have vision issues that make fussy cutting pretty much impossible but I’m sure I have other butterfly stamps and dies I can use to try to recreate this project. Thanks for the helpful video and for sharing your creativity!
