Chop Up Your Stamped Images to Create Fun New Looks!

by Michelle

Hello there, Michelle here with Terrific Tags with Michelle and another fun DIY crafting project featuring the new Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses. Today, I am sharing how to chop up your stamped images to create fun new looks!

Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses

This exquisite 6″ x 8″ Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses Stamp Set features a large, captivating rose arrangement, perfect not only for stenciling but also for coloring with any medium of your choice! To top it off, it also includes heartfelt sentiments like “Take care,” “Miss you,” “You are the best,” and more. Perfect for handmade cards, scrapbooks, and DIY gifts, this set adds elegance to every project. The Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses Layering Stencil Set helps to add color to the coordinating stamp set. These stencils are also sized differently from our typical 6″ x 6″ stencils, conveniently measuring 4.5″ x 8″. Simply blend ink onto your papercrafts with your favorite colors and watch the enchanting rose come to life.

Branching Roses DIY Tag Project

Branching Roses Tag

I started off by stamping the beautiful floral image from the Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses Stamp Set onto Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock using Obsidian Pigment Ink and the Stampwheel.

TOP TIP: Sometimes it is difficult to stamp larger images and not manipulate the shape. An easy way to do it is to place the coordinating die down first and then place the stamp on top. It fits in like a puzzle piece and ensures that the die will cut the image out beautifully! Watch the video to see it in action!

I then heat set the ink to prevent smearing before, die cutting out with the Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses Add-On Die Set.

Color Images with Stencils

I placed the image onto my Sticky Mat and then placed the first Build-A-Garden Branching Roses stencil on top. Using the Mini Blending Brush that comes in the kit, I added ink blending to the first layer of the flowers with Peachy Glow Fresh Dye Ink that is part of the new Sun-Kissed Delights Fresh Dye Ink Bundle. The second stencil layer uses Golden Honeycomb and the third uses Amber Rose.

I thought it would be fun to color the leaves in a different way, so I just used the bottom layer for the leaves and blended Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks (Firefly, Grass Field & Shadow Creek) on top.

Chop Up Your Images!

I die cut a tag from the Labels & Tags 2 Die Set from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock and then placed the floral image on top as a guide for where to cut the image into smaller pieces. I wanted the large rose on the right hand side and the smaller flowers on the left.

This is a great way to change the look of stamped images to fit your needs and create fun new looks!

To make sure the pieces fit on the tag, I die cut them using the label die. I added Instant Dimension Foam Tape on the back and then adhered them to the tag.

Finishing Touches

I stamped the ‘big hugs' sentiment from the Build-A-Garden: Branching Roses Stamp Set onto black cardstock using Embossing Ink. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the tag with more foam tape.

I added twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow. To embellish, I added a few Crystal Clear Enamel Dots.
